Great post!

It's not a perfect world, the weather is still quite warm to just plain hot in some areas. But the bears are there. I know the stress of finding a animal in such weather and condition and trying to get it out in time.

I for one would be more than willing to help look for a animal or help pack it out, I just need to know about it!

So good luck out there and stay safe.👍👍👍👍👍

I would like to add to this. Don't be afraid of getting grief from people on here. I know there is a lot of arm chair quarterbacking but recovering your animal is more important than someones opinion. I know a lot of stuff goes unposted on here for this very reason.

Yes very horrible! Heading out to check my trail cams in a few minutes. I just don't get why my area doesn't open until the 15th for bear. Maybe I can shoot one today with my handheld camera.

I would help track or pack as well. If you are anywhere up I-90 West of the Pass or up US2 West of Stevens, PM me and I'll come out. If you had your GPS coordinates that would be helpful.

Add me to the list.  If you are within an hour of Everett/Lake Stevens, I can get on the road to you pretty quickly.  My pack is all set up and ready to go, I have knives sharpened, and I'm cheap labor!

Side note -

What would you guys and gals think of setting up a Hunt-WA phone tree?

For those unfamiliar, here's how it works.  First, we split the state up into manageable chunks, say 4 to 6 areas.  Then, anyone who lives in those areas and is willing to help with this sort of thing puts their name in for that area.  If you live bordering 2 areas, put in for both if you are willing to help out in both.  Then, each area is assigned 2 Hunt-wa members that anyone can contact via phone.  When John Q HuntWaMember shoots an animal, and finds they are having trouble recovering said animal, they call the 2 guys who are assigned to the area they are hunting.  Those 2 guys each call 2 more guys who are on the list for that area, those 4 each call 2, and so on.  It's a quick way to mobilize a lot of help, and a whole lot more proactive than posting up a thread or sending a pm and waiting for someone to notice.

Thoughts?

This is very cool, is there anyway to make a list and pin it to the top?

I would head out to help someone in need in the Bellingham area, but not an experienced bear tracker, still a second set of eyes can make all of the difference. If someone is having trouble tracking down a deer, I have a lot of experience with those critters, and always looking for an excuse to sneak out to the bush...

In the South we used dogs to track down wounded game and recover it, unfortunately that is not allowed here but it is very effective.  There were websites with numbers to call, most of them took calls 24 hours a day.  Some were paid services, most were just guys helping out.  If you got into trouble and were out of options you just had to drive to where you could get cell coverage and start working the list.

I had to do it once, I got ahold of them at 3:00 AM and two guys drove 3 hours to help me look.  We found the deer in a few hours with some extra eyes and knowledge, I had looked from sunup to sundown the day I shot it and probably never would have recovered it on my own.
