FOUL LANGUAGE IN VIDEO> WARNING DANGER DANGER!
I went out bear hunting this evening, decided to try something new and bring along the mountain bike. I went up to a hill top I havent been to before, it looked great so I thought I would give calling a try. It was a little thick, but a little open....
I start the set and the birds all go nuts, which is not uncommmon. I continue on and about 20 min into it, a squirrel goes ape, just inside the far treeline. I have found this is often a warning something is coming in.
I grin a little bit, but keep calling....about another 5 min or so go by and I hear a branch break....or did I ...it was hard to tell if it was a branch or just a tree popping like they do when they get hot....
I keep calling on my RRCall and I swear I hear some brush move, but again, was it just me, the wind, or something...it was very faint, but lasted for a second or two....I keep calling....
about 45 mins into it....I am calling still....and then it happens...
BOOM! FOUL LANGUAGE~!!
Bobcat too close for comfort (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaPCQtItoUg#)
from directly infront of me, a flash of fur and eyes is all I catch and instinctively I point my gun, as soon as it all started, it ended! A bobcat was on the attack and launched itself right at me! It stopped literally inches from my barrel and slowly backed up as I went to grab the camera which was just to my right....it was closer than what it was in the video....needless to say, I was a bit shaken! We both started at each other with an "uh oh!" moment....and then he bolted....what a great start to bear season!
Afterwards, I thought that not many animals have lived after an initial bobcat launch attack...and not many have lived when my gun is pointed at them....truly awesome.
This is another great addition to many close animal calls I've had.
THANKS TO ANOTHER RRCALLS MOMENT!

That's frickin' cool!!!
-
Wow. Close call on both ends.
-
Pretty cool. I bet that got the blood pumping. :chuckle:
-
Cool! Twice I had a bobcat jump out in an area thick with bunnies, an area I call "Bobcat Alley" where I ride my mountain bike. Once I was bombing down a hill when the little guy jumped out and I chased him down the road for about 20 yards.

Way cool video. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, RR calls have worked well for me in the past.
And definetly, that is why predator calling is so addicting to me (and others). I love cold calling new areas to see what pops out!

No video ?
-
That's great! He just spent one of his lives on that encounter.
-
That was AWESOME!! what a rush that must have been. With as many encounters as you have you should put your camera on a tri-pod to video while you call.
-
That looked like a pretty decent sized cat, very cool!
-
Holy crap!
-
That is freaking awesome! You can tell your adrenaline was flowing!
-
Definetly had adrenaline...the part that got me going wasnt the fact a bob was so close, it was how incredibly fast he came in, wish I could have got that on video!
-
very impressive composure to get the camera turned on and rolling just to get the footage you got! thanks!
-
You got a set of ba!!$. I might be wrong but I think most would have a dead out of season cat on their hands. I think if I was in your shoes I would have shot out of fear when it was pouncing in my direction. I know you have had lots of close encounters so maybe that's the difference. I have only had one close encounter and it's hanging on my wall.

Repeat that come cat season haha...

From my neck of the woods, it was south, then east, then north a bit, followed by a gradual southern corner, then north, then a hard north. THen I was lookin east.
