2,525 ft no berries no scat at all, nothing, only saw a few buds starting to flower, so its far too early, just an fyi. im guessing they are far higher still. berries look to be 3-4 weeks out just to exist

Nobody's breaking any rules so I can't see the legitimacy in deleting this thread. Just FYI. That's where I stand. No need to keep alerting us.
-
If you are talking about blue hucks they don't usually get good until early September. From my experience at least.

Lets remove this post.
his pro says maple valley, i think he doesn't want any info given out on his back yard, sorry that's also my back yard and that's how i roll, members here share things like this i think its great it helps others track good elevations to hunt at, i appreciate it when i happen to read it  at any rate Taylor is a waste of time for at least a month, I know several members here that hunt it so i figured id share. we went all the way to the summit this morning arrived at 5am, nothing nada squat for a single black berry even.

:chuckle: I want people to harvest bears! not hide them

I'm definitely seeing action down lower along the raging.

You must be looking in the wrong places, black berries peeked 2 weeks ago still plenty of the older clear cuts

But in all honesty, you will find most, if not all bears, from mid-mountain to down low. From what I've seen, most of the hucks up high are the red ones.

i know it was very off but maybe its just that area, we covered alot of room and not one bloomed berry yet just sprouting flowers n buds on the blackberry vines.

:yeah: I love it when people kill bears. The more the merrier. Same goes for coyotes, cougars, and wolves.

KC if that is how you role then I think you are not making the right call on your rolling. Just to give you an idea about why I do not talk about spots is this:
5 or 6 years ago a guy (just like yourself) wrote and submitted an article in the Washington Hunting and Fishing magazine. the title was "Great Local Bear Hunts" he outlined details about hunting Tiger/Taylor Mtn. in the article. The next year I saw 11 trucks parked at the gate I normally go in on opening day (the previous year there was 2 trucks) I knew of 11 confirmed kills that year. That pretty much destroyed a not so bad spot. Ever since then the place is a ZOO that I stay away from.
Luckily I am the type of guy that is not afraid of getting out of my truck every chance I can to find out new areas, so I am not too worried about the spot in my back yard.
I am a firm believer in finding your own spots or just keeping them among your closest hunting buddies, not sharing them on the hunting washington forum to try and be a good guy.
KC I think it would be wise to rethink your posting strategies
Have a great day.

Or maybe rethink YOUR posting strategies. I get that you are frustrated but there are probably other ways to discuss it (think civil or in private) than name calling (which is against forum rules) :twocents:
-
I get it. I am just calling it what it is.
-
Kc is pretty new to hunting... maybe he just doesn't realize what he is doing by posting about specific spots :bash: :dunno:

Everyone.......hello everyone!
Beep beep bah beep beep beep......Just out in publication.....a nice article in the evil Northwest Sportsman....lots of good information to starting points for bear hunting near Mt. Baker! Also....now keep this quiet.....there are probably deer there also!
That is how I "role" also!
Nice job on the post KC....very helpfull for folks to hear reports that are general in nature...keep them coming!

Wow 11 trucks and 11 kills...Sounds like whom ever wrote that artical was spot on then... :chuckle:
Not defending anyone, but if you think tiger/taylor is some great secret honey hole.....thats funny... :chuckle:
-
Not saying it was any sort of secret just doesn't help when you write about it in a magazine.
What happen to getting out and doing the hard work to find YOUR great spot?
-
Nothing....you think saying go to Tiger Mtn is not vague enough?
-
Seen the same thing with the berries. No success for me nor have a seen anything up tiger
-

so saying a mountain makes me an idiot giving information? first off mr negative i said it was NOT the place to go, so how did that turn into me sending 11 trucks to the gate :dunno: thats like saying "hey theres bears in monroe"... if you have a brain youll know thats NO SECRET TO ANYONE :chuckle: in almost every bear thread someone mentions a city, town, mountain, or even get very specific, are you going to go and call ALL those people idiots too?

I love posts like this. All 20 bear hunters on Hunt WA will be parked at the reprod. I can just walk down the road and have the small remaining acre of Tiger to myself.

isn't this how C-post got started??

FIREARM RESTRICTED ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY MEANS NO HIGH POWER RIFLES IN THAT AREA. If you see someone Not observing the rules than say something this is how these types of spots get shut down. I don't hunt there but would hate to see any open area get shut down b/c of ignorance.
Thanks and good luck!
-
berries were out hard around my areas, gone already in some the ground boysenberries, salmon berries, etc. over east i ate lots of blue berries up to 3500 foot in el 3 weeks ago. mt baker and all of the state has bears. um well like 30 plus thousand bears. :IBCOOL:

I saw one in Liberty Lake this morning. Maybe we should compare notes, establish their travel corridor between here and there, then post it up

Was up there last year hunting wifh a buddy And ran into a couple of hunters with rifels. Told them about the restrictions and they said they didn't know. Good post

I didn't see 4 or 5 decent bucks, while camping in GMU 113 last week! I also DIDN'T see quite a bit of bear scat, while huckleberry picking, SOMEWHERE along Bead Lake Ridge Rd...between Bead Lk and...well...Idaho.
I also ABSOLUTELY DID NOT find these huckleberries...
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.staticflickr.com%2F5324%2F9473335511_0d14f3d88b_c.jpg&hash=58a2c98a2ce094dd934503f3054f58f665cc9ac9)
Nor did our family enjoy huckleberry pancakes that same morning, since I didn't find the above mentioned berries...

Nice job posting pics of BERRIES that no respecting BLACK BEAR would ever eat. I bet those BERRIES weren't on a S/SW facing slope with good sun exposure.......

the irony posted on this page is mind blowing.

just like the ones that trek over into the king county park area while hunting, its like they are just dumb ignorant :bash:

I saw a few trucks parked at the gate on the 2nd when going over for the NHRA race. Looked like a good place to bear hunt. I figured this without a magazine or this thread. The hunting spot is on a major highway, even a dry sider like me figured this honey hole out. :chuckle: Anyway, I for sure dont give out my favorite honey holes, but am for sure gonna give a guy enough info to find his own.
-
I help out guys here and there with old spots I used to hunt or just places I don't hunt anymore. Most of of honey holes are on private land makes for a great hunt for the wifey.
-
i would not say honey hole by ANY stretch of the imagination, not even drunk! there is a 1-4 taken a year there and thats omn a good year, plan to crawel through hell and brush to find a sign, and cover several miles and 17,000 acres :hello:
-
Well after being offline a few days I log in and have nasty Pm's from huntingnut telling me I better shut my mouth n stop giving Taylor mtn info away :dunno: is this a standard protocol for posting there are no berries and no good sign :dunno:

So now there is sign???? time to take a few days off work and go to my new secret spot that only 11 guys know about, and to think I drove right by it to go hunt over in Leavenworth on Saturday.... :bash:
-
I never even thought of hunting tiger mt until I seen huntingnut's comments about how good it is now I plan to go there and kill my 1st bear. I will just look for a gate with less than 11 trucks and give it a shot.
