I was sitting in my ground blind tonight waiting to catch a bear cruising along a creek on a piece of property I can hunt on. Ive sat in there 4 nights during the season so far and tonight was close! As soon as I got in the blind I thought I heard something and just continued to settle in. ABout 20 minutes later I heard something walking through the thick stuff behind me and it was only about 50 yards away, but I couldnt see it and I was bow hunting anyways. I listened to him circle around me all evening and at one point I thought he was going to pop out because I could see the brush moving and I could hear him breathing when the wind was calm. (its very thick where I am at) He eventually went back on what sounded like the same trail as he came in on and circled back around. I could hear him down in the creek bottom cooling off. I decided to head out after camera light was over and on my way out, I jumped him! :bash: He took off when I was about 15 yards away from him. It scared the crap out of me but I continued back to the pickup. I am mad at myself for bumping him but it was my only route back to the truck. I sure hope he is there friday night again, and takes the trail in front of my blind and not the one he took tonight!

Nice... Good luck!

Im by far no pro, but I might give it a couple days to chill out then go back :dunno:
-
I bet he'll be in there if there's something there he's feeding on. From my experience they don't have as long a memory as deer.

Thats what I am hoping. There are some blackberries but they arent too ripe yet. Will they still eat them? :dunno: And the creek is a good place for them to cool off in this heat

I shot at and missed a bear last year, misjudged the yardage and didnt have a RF. Next weekend he was right back there again. Second shot smoked him.
