I have ran my new Primos camera for 3 weeks now. It is the 7.0 megapixal truth cam blackout. I have now put 2 sets of 4 NEW "D" batteries. They last one week and then when it gets to about 50% my batteries go dead and the cam shuts off. :bash: :bash: I used Duracell, this time Energizer. I am about to call Primos, but wanted to check to see if I am doing something wrong, has anyone else had the same issue? Am I doing something wrong?

I have a muddy that has had a few primos cameras and had problems with all of them.
-
Probably not what you wanted to hear :sry:
-
Only ever had one problem with mine. Bear ate it. I called Primos and explained to them that the camera was only couple weeks old. They paid to have it sent to them and sent me a replacement at no charge.

Not really, but its something.

I believe primos did help or replace my Buddy's can if that's worth anything.

I bought a couple of their smaller truth cams last year and one didn't work right out of the box. They ended up replacing it with the blackout. It did seem to eat the batteries faster than my little ones. My blackout is way too sensitive though. It takes thousands of pictures of nothing even though I have the sensitivity supposedly turned down to least sensitive. I would send yours back and get something different. I don't think they will take mine back.

That is the same complaint I have about the Bushnell trophy cams. I have 3 and love them but they are almost to sensitive.

I have a couple primos cameras. Mine are the truth cam 35 defiantly lesser quality and shouldn't go through batteries as fast but i still have the first set in them and they still read 60%. This is my third season using them. They go up soon as Chinook pass opens and come down after archery season. And I would say I average 600 pictures every 2 weeks when I check it. I would say you got a bad one is give them a call there customer service seems to be pretty good.
-
Sounds like I will be talking to them today then. Thanks guys

It's normal for a camera to shut off when the battery level reaches 50%. I have several different kinds of trail cams, and I always change batteries when they get down to 60%. When the voltage they are putting out gets to be less than that, you don't know when the camera will just shut itself off and you'll miss a week or two of pictures.
However, something is wrong with your camera if it drops to 50% in one week. I have a Truth Cam 35 and a 46, and based on that I would expect they you should be getting at least 6 weeks out of a set of batteries, and possibly up to 12 weeks.
I would definitely send it back. If you bought it at Wal Mart or Cabelas they are both good at accepting returns. Let us know how it works out.

Oh, and the only thing I can think of that you might try before sending it back, is to try a different sd card. Some cameras are picky and certain brands or types of cards can cause issues like you are having.

Are your setting set up where your draining the battery more becasue its taking its max pics or videos. I have a wildgame innovation that did the same thng so i changed the settings from snapping 4 or 5 pics at once to only taking 2 pics at a time when its set off, and not letting it take video cause that will drain the batteries quick. Also i read if most of your pics are at night with the IR lens, that wioll drain your battery faster to cause it takes alot to make those IR lens to perform at its max. :twocents:

Matty- No I have the settings on cam only, no vid. Most pics were during the day. I have it set to take the least amount of pics per trigger. I think its 3. Everything as low as possible.

New batteries and SD card purchased and installed yesterday. I will wait a week and see what happens. *Fingers crossed*

Did you contact Primos yet or are you gonna wait and see what the new card does?

Going off of Bobcat's suggestion, Im going to wait and monitor for a week. Should I send them an email?

Well after a few days of soaking with a new SD card and batteries, I have the same issues. Looks like nothing is working with this. I only had 27 pics on the card too. I guess I will be getting in touch with Primos tomorrow to hopefully get this resolved. Kinda frustrating. :bash:

Crap, I just put a truthcam 35 in my lineup and hung it last week with my 5 other cameras. I set the sensitivity to high and set it for videos. I'll let you guys know what comes of it.

I picked up 3 primos cams this summer and theyre by far the worst cams ive had yet. Random shut offs, weird noises...Luckily i was able to return them and get a couple bushnells instead.

Moultrie, Moultrie, Moultrie

Do younhave any standard sd cards? Not sdhc or sdhd? Some cams will jot operate on sdhc or sdhd cards. I know stealthcam will not.

Moultrie, Moultrie, Moultrie
Only cams I run.
