This is a buck that my grandpa took in P.O. county, this buck has never been scored, grandpa was never really into that! But I can't help but wonder how he would tape out.... What are your thoughts??
-
very cool - do you have any measurements to point us in the right direction?
-
Unfortunately I do not...
-
Might be able to somewhat compare to the photos on the right?? two 5x7's and an 8x10 in the center
-
That thing is awesome!
-
great buck, the genetics are still here ...
-
beast!
-
I remember seeing this buck for the first time as a kid.. The pics don't do it justice, its a true hog!
-
Will score well in SCI.
-
That is not a deer it's a moose! :yike: What a monster
-
Score? There's not damn thing 3 digits can tell you about that deer that it's not screaming off that plaque just as it is.
That one is pure gold, add the family connection and it's beyond scoring. Just let it own that cabin and never score it.

Amen, Hallelujah and :yeah:

That is a fact... I agree 100%. This buck will very likely never be scored and will remain on my grandma's wall. She never cared to have antlers or mounts hanging in her house. This is the only set of antlers out of many impressive bucks that my grandpa ever kept. Grandma insisted that he put this one on the wall!! And that is where the family wants it to stay.

Stud of a deer. Let it hang as he wanted, no score, "big enough".
What does it say in the engraving below the antlers?

His name, date of harvest and name of the mountain where he shot it.
We are definately just going to let it hang as he would have wanted... But I have always wondered what he might tape out at!!

I hear ya on the wondering. Sometimes that is half the wow factor, not knowing. I would hate to venture a guess, without a tape I am guessing you would get a difference on guesses of 40" or more. Some will say it is 220" and some will say 170", and then the bickering starts.
I would say it is REALLY BIG and I would shoot it any day of the week and twice on Sunday if given the opportunity.
It is a great buck, an awesome family treasure and when to always wonder about. Thanks for sharing.

I don't see any problem with scoring it . you may be able to grandpa a legacy in the score books . either way it's a true thropy of a life time , I love the mass.
-
Exceptional......simply exceptional....
-
He's big that's all the score you'll ever need :)
-
I would take that over a 200" muley any day!

tho grandpa was obviously a modest man, i personally would have it scored, so if it made book it would immortalize him, even if only in a small way, to a few antler obsessed people, he would go down in history as a member of a very small group of lucky hunters. or let it ride as is, either way cant go wrong.
