I was out last weekend and we got 1 bird. It was a banded Rooster.  Was one of the ones from Coyote Ridge correctional facility...really nice bird.

Cool.  What do you hunt over?   Yeah it was nice to actually kill some birds.  Havent had any luck around ellensburg this year.

I was hunting around Quincy......with my bud's Brittney.  Just not allot to work with.  Saw two other Roosters standing in the road but that was it.  I think we are headed over towards Walla Walla this weekend.  Hoping for a little of that action you got into.

Didn't know that State park had that many roosters in it!  ;)  Must be nice hunting mowed grass and picnic tables!

Nice weekend...  I've got to get back over there and hit my spots!

That background does look like L&C state park, also reminds me of the lower part of Biscuit Ridge Rd.  lots of birds in that area if you have access to private ground some of those farms remind ya of the good old days.  Nice haul!

Not to keep picking at it but why would you not clean your birds from the first day?  I have never heard of anyone just putting the birds in the cooler with all the feathers still on it.  Did you just gut them?

Obviously I'm confused.

Unless it's pretty warm, birds will keep a day or 2 easy.  Many old timers used to hang their birds for days.  If they are kept in a cool place out of the sun, espeacially hung up, you shouldn't have a problem.

Looks like you guys had a good time.  My buddy and I hit the Yakima Lower Valley yesterday and after about nine hours of hunting came up with only  a single Quail.  We saw around 10 Hens and 2 Roosters.  The Roosters flushed about a 100 yards to soon.  It was good to see the hens, because until yesterday we hadn't seen very many.  We thought we would have had a very good hunt yesterday with all the snow, but that was not the case.

Nothing wrong with that Haul.   :brew:

There is nothing wrong with hanging or storing the birds as long as its cold out.  I have heard stories of people hanging ducks until the heads fall off, not sure I would go that far, but a few days is actually good for the meat.
