Nice bull no doubt, especially to a west sider like me. . . But is that really 350"? I've never really cared for score, but I scored a set I found in Idaho and came out at about 310" gross, barely 300" net with if I remember right a 36 or 38" spread credit. It's possible I screwed up the scoring I guess, I've only attempted it a few times.
Attached picture is of the girlfriend holding them. They looks pretty similar to me. :dunno:
Regardless, a stud bull though like I said before!
-
With a month to grow after the pic, I think he will get there 350...
Score means nothing to me either, just guessing
-
At 7/18 he had a bunch of growth left.
He's a bruiser for sure.....
-
I believe "Coach" to be well in the know how of scoring a Bull.
-
hes about 320-330 class
-
Nice Bull!
-
rtspring, hes done growing
-
I agree, he's all done growing in that picture. He's a beauty bull either way.
-
rtspring, hes done growing
:yeah: He is still a good Bull :bfg: :archery_smiley: EITHER WAY ! :dunno:
-
I've got pics of a good bull at the same time frame, and pics of him a few days ago. The only thing really different is his 5's and main beams. He's not dramatically different. That's a shooter bull for sure, maybe not 350 though?
-
COACH says he might pass him up!!! We shall see
-
Looks like a good bull. I dont know about 350 when he is done growing but hes a shooter.
Good luck guys hope to see field pics of him in sept.

OK hold the Bus ! Like I told RT lets see where that bull ends up I'd say he would finish about 340 maybe a lil more . He's a good representation of the species for sure. I'm gonna put in much more boot time before I make a choice , but if that bull walks within forty yards he may have a problem. Secondly I'd like to thank RT for inviting Me into his camp and offering up any of his things to me without reserve . My buddy Dan and I showed up Friday and meet his friend jeff and him at there camp. They welcomed us in just like one of the gang (thanks Buddy ). We scouted and spent some time learning the area , really pretty thick and tough to scout while the bulls weren't vocal , but we did see elk . It seemed like every spot is strait up or down and you know where the elk are , in the steep and deep. on a great note I got the bowtech shooting well and the broad heads flew true out to 70 yards . RT is a no bs guy and tells you like it is , some may not like it but I respect that and find him to be a honest strait up fella that im sure will go through hell and high water chasing elk with me .That gives me respect . His buddy Jeff is a hoot and a fun guy to have in your camp. While leaving camp today a yote stood there for just a bit to long and took one in the brain from 72 yards with the .45acp. I really hope my season goe's that way. This is gonna not be a cake walk but I'm gonna give her hell. RT and Jeff my have the archery bug if I can round up enough arrows !
-
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but don't bulls keep putting on inches thru July and into early August?
I thought 1st-2nd week of August was when they quit growing bone.
If so, and that dude had a couple weeks to put on inches, then.... :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike:
If not, and he's done, well then..... :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike:

If you guys haven't noticed RT gets a bit excited about elk :chuckle:

Awesome...definitely looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I'm sure it will be an amazing hunt and I hope to see it play out the way I think it will.... Happy to see this kind of comraderie on here. Good stuff and keep it coming.
-
Good luck to you coach. Hope you shoot a bruiser.
-

Once the tips of their antlers are pointed and not rounded out, they're mostly done. IF you look at some trail cam pics from earlier in the year, you'll see the tips are balled on the ends. Still growing.
-
Agreed.
And I'm no expert - but don't you think that dude had a little growing left to do based on that pic?
It matters not to me as far as the quality of the bull. I'm just curious.
Thanks,
Dan

Dink :chuckle:

Nice looking bull, my guess is he will top out around 330 - 340 give or take a little each way. Don't think I would pass on that bull if the chance was there.

Great looking bull guys! I had a great time with rt last year!
Can you remember it or is it all a haze ?
-
I suspect the biggest bull to be found on this trip will be around the campfire. ;)
Good luck guys, I'm expecting a 350" bull or bigger and lots of pics.
-
Great bull for sure :yike: My guess is 310-320 and he was done growing.
My bull from last year was done growing on July 5. Bigger bulls will finish earlier and raghorns are pretty much finished up by the start of August. One the darker balls are gone and the horn is all lighter brown velvet that is what you get.

I plan on being there for both weekends if need be and I can also run up after work if need be for packing meat or other things. Also gonna come up this coming weekend for camp setup. I have the kiddos all weekend so it will be just day trips for me. Plus Becky is moving into her new house over labor day! :IBCOOL:

Also guys, I have access to unlimited 50 lb bags of ice so let me know how much you guys need. I always freeze 6-8in of water in the bottom of my big 150qt coolers for my elk quarters. Keep them in the shade and they will last a week.
