OK hold the Bus ! Like I told RT lets see where that bull ends up I'd say he would finish about 340 maybe a lil more . He's a good representation of the species for sure. I'm gonna put in much more boot time before I make a choice , but if that bull walks within forty yards he may have a problem. Secondly I'd like to thank RT for inviting Me into his camp and offering up any of his things to me without reserve . My buddy Dan and I showed up Friday and meet his friend jeff and him at there camp. They  welcomed us in just like one of the gang (thanks Buddy ). We scouted and spent some time learning the area , really pretty thick and tough to scout while the bulls weren't vocal , but we did see elk . It seemed like every spot is strait up or down and you know where the elk are , in the steep and deep. on a great note I got the bowtech shooting well and the broad heads flew true out to 70 yards . RT is a no bs guy and tells you like it is , some may not like it but  I respect that and  find him to be a honest strait up fella that im sure will go through hell and high water chasing elk with me .That gives me respect .  His buddy Jeff  is a hoot and  a fun guy to have in your camp. While leaving camp today  a yote stood there for just a bit to long and  took one in the brain from 72 yards with the .45acp.  I really hope my season goe's that way. This is gonna not be a cake walk but  I'm gonna give her hell. RT and Jeff my have the archery bug if I can round up enough arrows !
Awesome...definitely looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I'm sure it will be an amazing hunt and I hope to see it play out the way I think it will.... Happy to see this kind of comraderie on here. Good stuff and keep it coming.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but don't bulls keep putting on inches thru July and into early August?

I thought 1st-2nd week of August was when they quit growing bone.

If so, and that dude had a couple weeks to put on inches, then....    :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike:

If not, and he's done, well then.....    :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike:

Once the tips of their antlers are pointed and not rounded out, they're mostly done. IF you look at some trail cam pics from earlier in the year, you'll see the tips are balled on the ends. Still growing.

Agreed.

And I'm no expert - but don't you think that dude had a little growing left to do based on that pic?

It matters not to me as far as the quality of the bull.   I'm just curious.

Thanks,

Dan

I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

Nice looking bull, my guess is he will top out around 330 - 340 give or take a little each way. Don't think I would pass on that bull if the chance was there.

I suspect the biggest bull to be found on this trip will be around the campfire. ;)

Good luck guys, I'm expecting a 350" bull or bigger and lots of pics.
