thanks

PM sent....
Also....did you bring this up at time of pick up? Did the taxi have a response? Has he or she offered to say maybe redo it with another cape this fall?
-
sorry that happened to your deer.
-
Can you post a full frontal photo of the mount (as if you were proud)? I'm curious what it looks like as a whole. That sucks to anticipate for months then total disappointment at the end, not to mention wasted money. :'(
-
Had a very similar experience with a Taxi years ago. Live and learn not all Taxi's are good or honest.
Who did the work so we know where not to go???
-
The first mount I ever did is 10 times better than that. That's just a terrible. Looks like another "taxidermist" that shouldn't be in the business.
-
Quality taxi is worth his/her weight in gold, gotta put a plug in for natures way! Give him a call and see if he can fix that up for you. He remounted a buck I had a garage taxi mount for me and Mike did a tremendous job on the remount and earned all my business after that!
-
Wont be in business long........Again, 4mos turn around is very attractive, but in this case the work sure isn't.
-
wow! that sucks someone would send a mount like that out of their shop!! hope you get it fixed without too much hassle! lol he looks like hes got a big *censored* eatin grin!! :chuckle: sorry....i couldnt help it...i really do hope they get it fixed!
-
Sorry about your mount man. Charlie does excellent work also. I'm going to have him fix my bull from 2011 when I've got a few extra bucks.
-
That is a great buck! Sorry that the mount doesn't represent just how nice he really is. Have you tried to talk to any of the taxi's on here to see if they could help? I agree that that the quality is poor and I wouldn't be happy either. Best of luck!
-
is it just me or does the horns look like they are pointed way too far up?
-
Amature............Id be pissed......
-
Man, that's the Joan Rivers of the deer world. Proportions, etc way off. Dang facelift...... Sorry man. Not claiming to be a taxidermist by any means, but my screw ups are my own and I certainly don't try to sell it to anyone. That's like every single mistake I have ever made all put together on one deer. :sry: :sry: :sry:
-
That's what ya get for not using a sponser from hunt wa... These guys post their work on a regular basis so ya know what your gettin..
-
is it just me or does the horns look like they are pointed way too far up?
:yeah:
-
:yike: looks like a mount you would see in a 80 year old tavern.
-
i wouldnt be to happy either, idk about natures way because i havent seen any of their work but i have heard good things, i have always used jack paige who own mineral lake taxi, and jack lives eats and breaths blacktail, he knows what they look like i can tell ya that, but after he retires fully i will be taking my stuff to BUCKLUCKY for sure, good luck sundance, its a damn shame that stuff like that has to happen...
-
I would be upset too.
Looks like those bucks on the old Tink's 69 commercials.
-
First off, nice freakin' buck! Second, I'm saddened and sick looking at that mount, that's terrible. :sry:
-
It's still hanging on the fence outside, can't bring myself to allow it in my house. Thankfully I picked up some nice beer the other day.....
sad thing is, you probably already paid for it, i am thinkn maybe you can hopefully come up with a new cape, doesnt look like the dude took good enough care to keep the hair from slipping and lord knows what is going on with the nose, dude that friggin sucks man, i hate seeing stuff like that, can you say what taxi did it so no one else gets jacked? again great buck, i hope you get it figured out man..
-
Close inspection at time of full payment would have been in order. That's a terrible job for that price. (terrible anyway, but newbies have to start somewhere). I say... Post the name of the taxi but don't rant about him/her. UNLESS, that taxi hasn't agree'd to fix most/all of what you point out. There are a few things I'd let go, as hides/fur does change a little when the cape is tanned. I like the natural look of a cowlick and off-color, in hair. If you had measurements of the antlers in the scull, they should match the form fit. I'd get things fixed or get some money back. You should get what you paid for.

Very Sad, he was a beautiful buck. My wife shot a huge blacktail about 20 years ago and we brought him to a taxidermist (had never seen his work before) that we had never used before. Went to pick him up....opened the shop door...my jaw dropped :yike: Her buck looked like the guy had used mascara around the eyes and black lip gloss on his mouth! I was in such shock that I was speechless... I know how you feel Sundance, it only takes once to learn the hard lesson...it stays with you a looong time. My :twocents: is to save up and get him re-mounted by someone that has a proven track record.
-
Just tell us it's none of the taxi's on this site.
-
I feel sick for you as well. That is an awesome buck to have screwed up like that. The individual pics are bad enough, but when i saw the full pic and i saw the deer was smiling...wtf?...it did make me laugh ( sorry) but then i felt guilty and I'm back to feeling your pain. Enjoy all your beers!
-
Sorry about your luck. Beautiful buck though.
-
Gorgeous buck! Sorry about the mount!
Depending on how it was tanned you might be able to have someone remount for you, with original skin, but I wouldn't wait to long. It's risky, but it gets more risky the longer you wait.
-
Signs of good Character there Sundance!

-
Very nice buck, terrible mount. It would be great if you could somehow get the remount paid for with funds you already paid to the original "taxidermist". I'd be all over that guy to make him think twice about taking the next guy for the ride he took you for. :twocents:
-
is it just me or does the horns look like they are pointed way too far up?
I though so too.
Sorry you did not get what you paid for. Hope one of the sponsors on here can get it looking better. Very nice buck though!!
-
I'd politely ask him to make it right, either by refunding your money or having someone else redo it, leave the option up to him. If he refused, then I would make sure he knows how many potential customers you will make sure has the entire story and pics, by explaining your side online through websites, Facebook etc.
The hunting community is large, but online resources are not so vast that he would escape having his business effected permanently, he has to realize that. If he still refuses then i wouldn't feel bad about outing him and his business, he obviously wouldn't be in business long anyway. :twocents:
-
That sucks! Just because a taxidermist is terrible at their job does not necessarily mean that they will go out of business. We have a local that has been doing really bad work for many years but because this person is related to so many people in the area and prices are dirt cheap, they stay in business.
-
Sundance- Sorry about your buck. That is a terrible representation of what for some would be a once in a lifetime buck. But I applaud you for not publicly trashing the taxi without him being able to respond. That shows you are a much more stand up guy than the taxi was. :salute:

+1 :yeah:
-
Wow all the way around.....sounds you handled tnis one textbook.
-
Good deal, post up pics when its done !!
-
Glad things are looking up for you. I'm kind of sweating bullets now though, I pick up my 2012 buck Sunday from a guy I've never worked with before. Beautiful buck you harvested there congrats!
-
Id have it completely re done..that looks terrible and sorry to see such a great buck mounted that way. There are more things wrong with that than could be fixed. I agree the antlers were not set correctly. That buck you killed was a bruiser, the neck and head are big! this doesnt represent it all.
-
Hope it does not happen to more guys this year!
-
:yike: Not to make it sound So bad ...but that is awful !!! That is a fine looking deer too ! I would take it back and tell him to try again :dunno: :yeah:
-
:chuckle:

Thanks for the compliments Sundance I really appreciate the manner in which you handled the situation. It showed that you have good character and are a standup guy and we all could use clients like that (Thank You)That is what caught my attention and is why I am willing to help.

Sundance:
I commend you on not turning this thread into ANOTHER "Trash the Taxi" dog-pile. It shows allot of character on your part. Seems like when a thread like his is started its like blood in the water and there are some that are just chomping at the bit to swim up and take a bite. Your focus to get the quality mount you want supersedes the desire to rant and trash the shop that did your initial work thereby almost eliminating the possibility of an equitable outcome. Blindsiding a business with a negative internet review and then approaching them to make it right leaves you very little leverage to to be treated well. I'm not saying that this shop shouldn't be held accountable for turning out substandard work. I'm simply saying that your approach in dealing with this problem shows an incredible amount of maturity and integrity. Great Example to others THANKS
Best of luck

Man, that's the Joan Rivers of the deer world.
I am totally going to steal that line :chuckle:
-
Can't wait to see the remount!
-
 nice buck! That dude will be looking sharp.
-
Ugh! Such a disappointment...sounds like you've got a great plan to a happy ending here, just hope you can approach the other taxidermist and work out a fair refund. When the dust settles, we'll get him officially measured
-
Looking forward to seeing the new mount.
-
this is the one that got me the worst, it doesnt even look like a real deer :o

Its a smiling buck :chuckle:
-
cant wait to see the new mount, i have been hearing good things about NATURES WAY...
-
gives me flashbacks of my antelope head I had done a few years ago, worse mount I have ever seen, still pisses me off
-
That mount is an instant classic!
Meaning that the minute is was finished it looked 50 years old
:puke:
-

:puke:
lol! I was thinking the exact same. It looks like one of those mounts that you would see in a old bar or something.
-
Yup, I have to say, that was one ugly mount. I'm glad they refunded you. I'm just curious as to what their excuse was? Are they new or what? Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing the new one.
-
I got one worse than that and it was my 140" buck I seen and I was sick and just got very angry and started laughing and said you ruined something that don't happen all the time I grabbed my head buy the horns and just smacked it pull my horns out and left
-
Picked up my Blacktail buck from 2012 today, good news is it was only a 4 month turn around, bad news is I'm very disappointed with the quality of the mount. This is a very good buck that I took extremely good care of and caped myself with zero flaws. There are very noticeable flaws in the mount that I feel is poor quality and leaves me with a hollow feeling. Now I am going to have him touched up by a third party to see if we can make him more presentable. Some pictures to show why I am less then happy with the results.
Pic 1:The nose has been plugged, and poorly IMO
Pic 2:Poor job on tucking the lips and no cover paint
Pic 3:Visible hair slippage under the chin
Pic 4: Funny looking brisket/hair not laying correctly
More pics in a few.....
I was wondering if you knew the deer would be done in 4 months and had you seen any of their work?
-
Looks like it belongs in an applebees...
-
:o I wouldnt drop off my animals there! :sry:
-
I was at Nature's Way last Friday dropping off my bull and saw the new mount. He wasn't done quite yet. You are gonna be very happy. I looked at everything throughout his shop and WOW. Michael does outstanding work. I'm so glad I chose him and you will be too.
-
It looks a lot better than the job that was done on mine. I about crapped when I saw the deer I shot last year vs. how it was mounted.

let's see it :peep:

Here he is
-
  I never got tired of looking at the harvest photos last year, and this mount truly represents that buck as it should! Great work  And congratz Sundance on a gorgeous buck.
-
That is a nice looking mount, and a whole hell of a lot better than what you started with! Wow, a really nice resurrection for that trophy.
