I am so excited to get the season going. I think I have my spot all set. Been seeing deer there like crazy! Here is to hoping I can fill a tag early this season and get focused on prepping for duck season!
-
There is a pond where I am working and it has at least 100 to 150 mallards landing in it everyday ...I shot ducks off of it before but never seen that many ducks hitting this pond this early ....If they continue to stay there they will be in deep sheet come opening day ! :chuckle:
-
I flung a few arrows today. Did an inventory of what I need for the elk opener. Ordered new inverter to keep the garmin charged. Rechecked weather report and saw some rain
-
Certainly nice to see the weather beginning to turn and just in time too. 9-03 here we come. :archer:
-
We're supposed to get weather this week on Trout Lake and Carson.
-
Trailer is packed arrows are tunned set for the 6-9 but first a day trip on the opener to filll the frezer before I go after my trophy good luck to everyone may your arrows fly true and you return safe.
-
No it snuck up on me big time. Setup my blind yesterday with a trail cam on private property.

My check list is all checked off. Last weekend we found a large drainage witha large herd in it  This morning I was shooting my bow and packing. Everything is just about ready to be loaded into the truck. I just have to make it threw the work week. Its all I can think about, I am kinda like a kid on Christmas eve!

I need to figure out where you work so I can find that pond and slay some ducks!
I'm going to keep myself preoccupied this week by hitting the Salmon running up the Puyallup river. Put some Salmon in the freezer and then stack venison on top! It's a great time if year!
-
Grain harvest is running late this year, critters get moved out of their normal patterns and are tough catch up with. Could make early season bow hunting a challenge this year. Have not even figured out where to set up a stand or a blind yet. Gear is tuned and ready to go and I've been practicing on a regular basis since march, so I'm as ready as I can get considering the circumstances.
Have most of the month of Sept. & the late season to get it done. Got to admit, I like taking a deer toward the end of the season anyway, Feels strange hunting the early season in summer clothing.
-
I was ready tell I got someone moving in to my spot and spooked the animals out :bash: time to run out and scout a little this week and see if they animals moved to my other honey hole I have. :dunno:
-
Scouting has really paid off. My only problem is I wasn't going to do the elk this year because of lack of hunting partner but it seems elk are everywhere in abundance were I'm scouting, I nearly got ran over early this morning. Blessings and full freezers to you all.
-
I am not ready. Scouted the Toutle a bit and only saw one spike. With Weyco locked up it may be a bit tough.
-
I am ready to go been in my elk area every weekend possible scouting, have been shooting arrows since last September and just hung a tree stand and put up a ground blind. Now to make it through the next four days of work and I am off to the woods for the next two weeks. Good luck to everyone this fall!
-

Tough break. I've been lucky enough to find jobs and a wife who understand that hunting is an imperative. I'm very fortunate with both.

Found my elk tag....suppose I'm getting closer to being ready. The wife made a 5 lb lasagna and is prepping to make a few pot pies for dinners...coming right along. Time to sight in the bow!
-
anxious here... :chuckle:
-
Id wait another week on the bow. Lotsa time. :chuckle:
-
True.......I can always shoot some in camp to make adjustments....first I have to figure out how to mount the thing.
-
I got almost everything done last night. Pack is packed just can't find my GPS but I guess I don't really need it since I am on a farm hunting or I just go to my old standby. Clothes are all in my huge zip lock bag after hanging outside for a while. Tryied sitghting in my bow with the new toxic broadheads but they were all over the place. Screwed my Muzzy MX3's back on and spot on. I wonder since those Toxic cut so good maybe I didn't get all the foam off from my shot block? Good luck guys I will be in the blind on Sunday trying for a mulie.

Mother nature made me a predator. For 45years I have honed my hunting skills to the point that I'm a shadow in the wilderness. I am death to anything I hunt, my kills are quick and clean. When I hunt, neither animal nor man ever know that I have been there. I'm a mountain man from the past. I'm an arrow slinging, Elk Bulging, Deer Stalking, Bear killing machine. OH wait a minute that was a dream :chuckle:
Truth is I'm ready for a good time with friends and family, getting out in the woods and pitting my skills against mother natures tastiest animals. I was lucky enough to draw the multi-season elk tag so with any luck I will have a photo of something to post by the end of the season(s). :) So to answer the question, Yes I'm ready, WAHOOO

I thought you said you don't shoot in camp? Witch by the way was about the dumest thing anyone has ever said to me. I shoot everyday in camp.
-
I explained this to you....It's not that I don't shoot....It's that I make sure my last shots before I put a pin on fur is dead on. Its a confidence and mental thing. If I start jacking around in camp and shoot like garbage I may doubt myself when it is go time. I've done this with rifle and bow ever since I started hunting.

Dont worry about mounting it. There only there for looks anyway.
Be the Arrow!
-
I'm going to shoot at camp when I shoot an elk out of my camp chair...
I'll watch the cooler and camp and be "hunting". I'll practice on a cow. Here's hoping for the best. :chuckle:
-
Only thing left to do is a meal plan for 5-6 people for all 12 days...fml...this is way tuffer than geting a simple lil broad head to shoot :chuckle:
-

:yeah:
Bow sighted in. Shots dead on at 4 different distances....Dont touch it!! :chuckle:
Superstition thing for me.

See....I'm not crazy!

Your crazy. Your one of those I only need 6 broadheads because I can hit a paper plate at 50 yards most of the time guys. Where I like to be hitting a tennis ball out at 80 most of the time. I have had stuff happen to my bow while hunting that can't be explained but go from shooting dead on to 6 inches low :dunno:. You font shoot you don't know that you miss your one shot at an elk. I'm not talking a bunch of arrows I'm talking 2 or 3 quality shots a day then call it good. I have to much time and effort into it to find d out I missed because of my bow being off for whatever reason.

i'm with you. i don't touch anything after i dial in my broadheads.
i don't have an elk camp, though. i'm a daytripper. all 13 days if necessary.
-
Every arrow I've loosed on an animal has hit its mark....granted I'm no the great and all knowing experienced bow hunter....but I've gotten it done every time I've tried. I'm just fine with it.
-
I have been ready since the last day last year. I have the opener off of deer and the day after so hopefully I can fill my tag early so I can go fill my bear tag. Cant wait to see pictures posted. Good Luck to everyone.

And thats the beauty of it, we all have our own way, yet can still get it done. I dont want to shoot a tennis ball at 80yds, I want to shoot an elk at 30. I can hit a paper plate at 50 every single time tho too.

Drock is just trying to get me all wound up. Remember....this a guy that has 25 arrows made up and ready to go...probably a few more. He's just being a punk.....its all good.

Well, I'll still be deployed to a hot, sandy location on opening day. Hope you all have fun, and look forward to some good pics/hunting stories. I do however plan to be home in time for late season..
-
:bash: this week is always the longest week of the year for me! Finishing touches on my gear tonight and BAM I'm ready. :ACRY: :mgun:
-
Broadheads will be tested tomorrow im hitting a 2" dot from 50yard pretty easy and at 80 im in a 4" spot every shot. I just ned to throw my prohunters together tomorrow and put my broadnheads on to see how well ive tuned :chuckle:
-
Leaving tomorrow to get the camp setup.
-
Only 60 hours from now I'll be 17 ft. in the tree waiting for Mr. Blacktail . After 2 years of scouting this area this is the first time we will be able to hunt it (closed last year for fire danger). We've got 5 tree stands up and ready . My wife and I hit Cedar River last night , shot one of the trail courses , both of us dead on . Oh ya , we're ready . This is going to be a long 60 hours.
-
Started packing today, costco tomorrow.
-
Not me. I think I am just gonna wait till late season this year.
-
leaving tomarrow. glad to see the rain good luck to all of you ;)
-
going 5 mi. into a wilderness area over the weekend, this will be my first time hunting the area, really looking forward to the trip.
-
Bow is tuned and my confidence is great. Pack is filled and way too heavy. Just need to hike into the wilderness and start locating some critters. First time hunting in this state and I am very excited. Hope to have some opportunities to say the least. Good luck.
-
Not real excited about hunting this year, at least for myself. Going to concentrate on helping my daughter get her deer and elk and I might go late archery for whities. Early season has never been my thing anyways.
