Yep but unless you have had one stolen then I don't see needing one because I wouldn't want to waste a camera that works pointing at a dummy camera ya know? Don't get me wrong, I like your idea because I despise people who steal cameras so there has to be something. Maybe come up with something that you can put by the camera that unless it is disengaged, will spray when the camera box is opened or something...

I also like the electrified box for the camera but I would just worry that some little critter would crawl on it or a bird would sit on it and then you would fry them :yike:Lol that just made my day.

My concern would be an animal (bear) accidentally activating the peeper spray and ruining your chances of seeing other animals in the same area.
Well then all you have to do is look for the animal that is already seasoned. :tup: Win/win for all..

Sounds like you could wind up with more trouble than what a $75-$200 camera is worth....yeah loosing a camera would suck but I think Id rather cut my loss than delve into what could be a expensive legal mess :twocents:

So not only yes but He77 yes I'd get one and I'd put it right where the other one was stole from and when it went off hope the bas*** falls the 20 feet to the ground and impales himself on a sharpened stick.
Because you know the Dirt bag thinks if he got away with it one time he can get away with it a second time So Yes I'd set a booby trap.
I think what would be great is a pressure release triggered Flash Bang accompanied with an exploding dye pack so when the pressure of the camera against the Tree is relieved it goes off or when the the case is opened that way you could have a device to maintain the pressure inside the camera so when it is off the tree and the case opened if you did not maintain the pressure KABANG

I have been working on a design of a dummy trail cam that will spray any would be thief's with uv dye laced pepper spray. Would this be something would buy to protect your cams?

If I rig my car to shock people that may try to break in, or have a sling to shoot poison needles at intruders in my tent....You cant be serious yourself! As I read your statement you said it IS NOT ILLEGAL to inspect a game camera on private property but it is illegal to maim somebody. I understand that setting a trap that seriously injures someone would "trump" the trespass issue but that was not my point, which is that it is illegal to enter private property and check a trail cam or do anything for that matter without permission of the landowner. You can't even retrieve a legally harvested deer that runs and dies on private property if the landowner doesn't allow you to!
