What a kick off to the season. I am hunting on private property on a hay farm outside of Cle Elum. Got my blind setup a well ago. Got to the blind at sunrise. Nothing moving. Sat there till around 1100. Decided to get some lunch and chill. Oh had to fix my bow. My quiver mount broke. All fed, bow fixed and nack to blind by 1400. I have to day it was hot in that blind. Around 1630 i stand up to stretch. In blinds you can do that and i love it. I look to the south part of the hay field and see ears in a small valley in the field at 500 yards. The 3x3 and 2 2x2. They were bedded down in the shade. Watched them for an hour. They got up feed and then left over a 100 yards away. So this is about 1800 20 minutes later the 2 2x2s come back feed around the blind. 38 yards. A ground hog spooks them but not after one of the buck had a stare down with it. Sun is going down about 1930 I am alert bow in hand arrow knocked. Catch movement close to the blind to my left about 10 feet. Holy cow the 3x3. Kept g rated there I said different words. Drew add he was walking by the front of the blind. 10 yards or so quartering away slightly. Let it fly. Clean pass threw. Watched out run off about 300 yards and it drops to it's stomach. Then gets back up cross a fence into some timber. The sun just went down so it was hard to see in the timber at 500 yards. So this is about 5 minutes. I wait another 5 to stop the shakes. I knew it was a solid hit and the deer was hurt. Went out to find my arrow. By the way nocturnal nocks rock. If that thing wasn't on I wouldn't have found that arrow buried in the grass. Follow the blood trail nice red and spurting. Get to the fence line and 10 feet in was a down buck. Gutted it and I found one lung destroyed. Not bad for a 100gr Muzzy mx 3. My first mulie and first WA deer. Oh and some of you that are wanting to get into bow hunting do it nothing more exciting. You don't need a super high end bow either. Mine is a Reflex Bighorn that i setup at less than 500. It is 5 years old. now to finish butchering the deer.

Nice job  Good luck elk hunting.
When did you set your blind up? Did you set it up the day of? I haven't used a ground blind before. I'm thinking about getting one.........good write up also.
-
I set it up a week before. The one big thing is having them get used to it. I was also on private property. Ground blinds allow you to move and to avoid detection to add point. I have hunted Turkeys out of one and works awesome. First deer out of one. That deer was close to the blind and never noticed me drawing and moving to get the shot.
