Title: Chuckle
Post by: Worldhunter on September 06, 2013, 05:52:46 PM
For the third afternoon in a row I've had elk make a chuckling sound while in my stand.  What does this usually mean.  I am deer hunting the area but there is elk sign everywhere.  I have seen three bulls in the area last week prior to opening.

Isn't it obvious? They are laughing at you. Have you look up in the tree to make sure they are not above you?  :chuckle:

It's been my experience that they like to do it in high traffic/highly hunted areas.  It's a lot more subtle and "sneaky" than a full on bugle.  The other scenario I've seen and witnessed is a smaller subordinate bull with cows trying to round up more without drawing to much attention to himself and loosing the ones he has to a bigger bull.  :twocents:
