Ok i am throwing my arms up.... :dunno:
after about 5o miles of hiking and 9 days of very Hard hunting we have only been able to locate one shooter bull which my brother passed on cause it was almost 300 yards.
as you all know we have 3 bull tags so im pulling out all the stops and askin anyone and everyone for a little help locating these big boys.
we have covered every inch of this GMU and have found a lot of cows and a lot of sign but just havnt been into the bulls yet.
i know there is bulls in this GMU but they are doing a great job of hiding from us so far.
if you have any current info on BIG BULLS where abouts in the RIMROCK GMU please let me know
im going back wednesday and hope to close the deal
thanks in advance
Mike

I wonder how many big ones you've hiked past. I bet a few. That's the problem with elk, when they decide to cut and run they can cover some ground, I'd head for the thickest, nastiest stuff you can find, thats where they will be holding out now.

set up on the edge of some DEEP DARK timber, try to find any area with a lot of browse and good route to and from the timber to the feed and try to catch em movin in and out. you'll prolly only see the big boys during the first 20 minutes of light and the last 20 before dark, unless they get kicked. if they've been pushed, (in rimrock im sure they have after the opener) you're gonna have a hard time. those big bulls aren't dumb and they wont come out of that timber for nothin. i highly doubt you'll be walking up on any spooked elk so find a good stump!

THey are in the deep stuff my friend. If you coouldn't connect before the opener of the general and one didn't run you over Sat or Sun, you are in for the long haul.

If you go back wednesday its gonna be crazy with all of the cow tag holders. The big boys are in the thickest nastiest stuff in the unit and rimrock has got plenty of that. I would do as wrangler said and if that doesn't work and you are pressed for time start doing drives and have someone post up and be ready for a quick shot :twocents:

STICK TO THE HELL HOLE. NO COW HUNTERS WILL GO THERE. j

Like the guys said,in the thick now,try spending some time on your knees with the binos. they are laying down in the thick watching you walk by! That is how they get big!! You will have a hard time spoting them walking upright! :twocents:
