So my buddy that does not hunt want to join me this year just to tag along. The question is can a non-hunter accompany a licensed hunter in the field? I would assume as long as he does not have any hunting equipment, IE firearms or bow, and does not help harvest the animal that he is not in the act of hunting and it would be fine. Just wondering if anyone else has done this?

Tagalongs are fine, just don't let them hold your bow, shotgun or rifle, even for a second never know when the warden is watching. I believe in tagalongs, a great way to mentor future hunters

Sure take him along. Heck someone needs to clean your animal and drag it out for you

I don't see how it would be any different than taking one of your own children as long as they are empty handed like you said. All of my sons went a few years as a tag along before earning the opportunity to attend hunter safety. One hunts, one likes animals too much to kill one so will always buy his protein, and the jury is still deliberating on the other. Although I think he is starting to show some promise. I think it is a good way to learn what kind of ethics they have too, in case you are thinking of including them in your actual hunting party down the road.

Some of them have a hard time remembering to STAY BEHIND THE GUY WITH THE GUN! If they do that, except for twice the noise, their ok.

Perfectly legal!! I have done it myself but I had bear and cougar tags so I still brought a rifle along on a couple excursions. But boy is it nice to not have to carry a gun!!!!

I'm bringing my woman along hunting as a non-hunter (hopefully will change that next season!) this season, perfectly legal and tagalongs make great packers!

They make for great photographers too.

Probably reduces your success rate by %50, but sometimes make the experience %100 better.

I've been the "tagalong," camera in hand. In fact, last year the hunter was the "tagalong" while I was the wannabe guide. I had to wake him up when the deer came into view though...lol

It was a "tagalong" that took the cover picture of the regs this year. ;)

I bring my woman along for retreiving..... She's pretty good as long as she doesn't have to swim.
