Just wondering. Within +/-10 is fine.
-
It looks like an elk with 225" of antler on its head :chuckle:
-
Would you happen to have a picture of 225 inches of antler? :chuckle:
-
There's so many different combinations that could make 225--beams, tines, number of tines, mass.
-
Just try and picture what a healthy 5x5 rag horn bull looks like and your pretty close to 200 if that helps for size comparison. I have a picture somewhere of friend's bull from a few years ago and it scored 229 and its a little smaller than the bull I got this year.
-
:dunno:
-
:yeah:
Im willing to bet that bull is lower 200s but not quite 225 gross. :twocents:
-
Scratch that. I think he's right at 225.

Not at the moment :chuckle:

I'll send you a pic when I get home from work. Have a 231 3pt rosie with doubles.

3 point with doubles...Is that a 5 point?
-
:yeah: what the heck is a three point with doubles?
-
btcody, don't they have the scores on some of the bulls in swains?
-
haha, that's a "west of the crest" counton elk! I heard somebody call it that before, too. A 3 point with eyeguards (doubles for two, single for one) is actually a 5pt, a 4 pt with doubles is a 6pt.
I was kind of making fun of a guy over here for calling a nice 5x6 rosie a 3x4, but he replied by saying "What, you count your eyeguards on your mule deer?"
I don't give him crap anymore :chuckle:

It might be a west of the crest count for maybe about 6 people total west of the crest. I've never heard anyone say that before. I was making a joke. I think there was a thread about that not too long ago and now, every so often, someone cracks a joke about it.

Is that a 3 point with doubles in your avatar pic?
What do you say if it's a 4x5 or something like that? A 3 point with a single on the left by a 3 point with doubles on the right?
Seems overly complicated to me.
-
Comparing little stickery mule deer eyeguards to big swooping browtines on an elk is a bit of a stretch.
-
Nope. The bull in my avatar is a 4 point or four point with doubles (6x6). If it's a 5x6 then its a 3x4. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, it's just how I was brought up as well as most of the folks I know...

Not complicated at all :o
I saw a dandy 4x4 with doubles on the left and single on the right and +.5 on the right with a droptine (only 50% of a tine because it points downward)
You Simpletons might refer to it as a 6x6 :chuckle:
-
Ya sorry... Wasn't joking at all, not saying its right either, but just the way everybody communicated when talking about bulls when I was growing up. I never count small kickers or what we call cheater points on bulls either.... Just mainly by frame when referencing... So if I see a 2pt with double eye guards with a crab claw or a couple cheater points, its a 2 pt bull with some funky stuff at top to be a 5 by 6 or what have you, ordinarily to make it sound like you killed a good bull :chuckle:
-
Put my bull in my avatar for an example: I would call that a nice coastie Roosevelt bull..... If I was radioing somebody in our group, I would say it was a 4pt with doubles. Its funny because all of my friends growing up would laugh at people who would call that bull a 6x6... To eat your own, just a tradition thing.
-
Yup...I understand. I grew up on the east side of the country where our whitetails were all named by the total points, in other words a 4x4 would be an 8 pointer or an 8 point.
-
I'll agree on "cheat points" as you say.
I think most people agree that little kickers aren't referred to in a 5x5 or a 3 pt with doubles, four point with singles etc.
I could really care less how people count points as long as they don't say 10 pt.
I DO find it humorous to say 3 point with doubles. Know why? Cause that's how I was raised :chuckle:

Is that a 2x2 with doubles in your avatar pic? :chuckle: :chuckle:

I always thought cheaters were on mule deer to get extra width. Stickers I'd refer to what you guys are calling cheaters...

No it's a 2x2 with forked singles
-
Actually, real hunters only count pedicles. So I've never shot anything but 1x1s with "cheat points"
-
Ha ha. I agree with Jon_S. But does anybody have a pic to help this guy out with?

BIG ENOUGH FOR THE MEAT POLE :dunno: ;)
-
My 2009 bull is in the 225 neighborhood...
-
Sorry, cut some firewood after work and just got settled in, here is the bull that is 231.
-
Pour picture however this is 225 and some change Roosevelt
-
My Avatar is 300 (OK, 299 and 5/8)
-
A touch over 225"
9/7/12 Big Roosevelt Bull (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWQc40yHk0w#ws)

All these pics are close to that score, My dad has a bull he had scored at the Sportsmans show. It went 235. It's a real tall, symetrical 6x6, with a fork on the tip of each main beam.
