After hunting really hard, the first week of Archery Elk, and not seeing or hearing a peep, I gave up until the last day of the season. I'm really new to bugling, but with a Primos with the blue ring, I bugled in a big bull, only to miss the shot!!
Anyway, returned to the same area over the past few days to deer hunt. Man, the elk are bugling like CRAZY!! They're starting right at dark, carrying on for hours. Then right before daylight, they're at it again, bugling until about 10 AM.
I watched a big herd bull, with several cows, about 700 yards away this morning, for several hours. A smaller bull kept getting a little too close to those cows and the boss would chase him away. This herd bull started bugling at about 5:45AM and was still bugling when I walked out, at 10AM, without seeing a single deer...

Probably 102 or 109. They were screaming there yesterday all day, right off Fixion Rd on the uphill side.
