Title: My 2013 buck
Post by: Maverick on September 29, 2013, 04:40:34 PM: Went out and did some glassing yesterday morning. We ended up spotting a group of bucks and watched them for a couple hours and waited for them to bed down. I snuck around and crawled up on them and was able to shoot this guy around 60-70 yards. He dropped and was down for the count. The rain let up and the wind was blowing perfect. It really could not have been a better hunt! This guy is a 4x5 with 3 inch eye gaurds and 27 inches wide.

If any body is noticing that he isn't gutted in the pic it's because we dragged him down hill to the truck and wasn't a real long ways from home. I figured with the cool temperature the meat would be alright and it's be a lot cleaner gutting it in my pasture. Paid off really well. The gut cavity wasn't full of weeds. Only thing I didn't consider was how heavy a buck is full of guts. What a work out!

FWIW I'd say 150 class but it doesn't matter, he's a cool looking buck, congrats on a great hunt Mav! :tup:

Post by: Maverick on October 03, 2013, 08:13:48 AM: We scored my buck yesterday and he grossed out at 171 5/8. We're not experts at scoring. We watched a few videos on YouTube and I'm sure we're not perfect but were close. I'll get him scored at the tri cities sportsmanship show in January by the pros.
