Modern Rifle- I am going to try and Elk hunt in Winston, Packwood or Randle. I can change my plan and I can go anywhere with the East or West (bought tag but have not decided what side yet). I have a truck but hate to drive in the snow. I am trying to find a place to set my tents and for someone to keep in contact with me just to be safe and/or to help if I do land one. I have not hunted elk alone before. Would love some help. I am experienced deer hunter. I will be on foot mostly.
Thanks,
Tammy
P.S If you want to get together for deer let me know. I have to stay around the house for the 1st part. Doing Hunter Breakfast @ my Fire Station and kids stuff during the week but open 2 week.

Don't you need to specify on elk....east OR west....when buying a tag?
-
Multi-season tag maybe?
-
No you actually don't have to. I bought my license last year Elk,deer, bear, cougar and didn't pick up the transport tags till later on when I had to decide east or west for elk.

Contact "wrongway" on here regarding camping on his property. Your camp would be safe, and very likely there will be other hunters camped there at that time, so you could possibly coordinate with them if you were to need assistance.
He is near the town of Toutle and you could be in the Winston unit in 5 minutes from your camp.

True, read that she had already "bought" her tag, didn't occur to me that she may have meant that she just paid for it but hadn't decided on which side choice yet.
