Meat shoots are fun
-
I'll have to remember this one. I gather it's by the fair grounds.
-
Yes, take the rodeo entrance to the fair grounds. Moses Lake always buys good quality meat for the
Prizes, hope to see you there!
-
How many usually show up for this event?
-
For those of us who don't know can you elaborate on what a meat shoot is or how the competition will work?
-
In a "meat shoot" a shooter can buy a book of rounds, usually 5 round tickets, or buy individual round tickets. Look at the top of each sign up sheet, as it will be marked accordingly as to what type of round will be shot. Most will be typical 16 yard trap, and will say novice, or youth, or lady, etc....Some rounds will be marked handicap, and a yardage will be given. Meat shoot format goes like this. In trap, there are 5 "posts". Each shooter will shoot twice at each post, in a normal trap shooting flow. High score out of the ten total targets wins. In the event of a tie, a miss and out shoot off with begin immediately. In the shootoff, the lead shooter will pick a spot pretty much anywhere, where each shoot off shooter will shoot from. If a tie still exists, the next shooter in order on the list will pick a spot and do it all over again. The winner will get a choice of a meat prize. Hope this helps, Feel free to ask for more details. IT is a GREAT day of fun, and you wont go home empty handed with a book purchase.

Great! And...yes. We are having some flyers printed up, hope to have them soon and begin distributing them. Last year we had some white birds mixed in as "free lunch birds". I even got one of them... :chuckle:. The grill at our club a known for its great tasting burgers, and salads and all the trimmings will be available.

From Yakima, I-90 exit 176 Left onto Broadway AVE, continue past Big R staying on Broadway, to Alder street intersection, Left turn across the "alder street fill". Left turn at Valley Road intersection, Right turn onto Paxton Drive, Left turn to enter rodeo & Fair grounds entrance/Gun club entrance. Pretty easy to find. If you know where the Grant County Fair is held, you will find the Gun club on the East side. See you there!

Anyone coming to Moses lake for the shoot?
-
What's the hours for the shoot? I may mosey up.

Shooting starts at 9am, we will quit when we run out of meat! Usually lasts well into the afternoon.

I see you had 9AM in your original post. I think I'll show but I'm a little rusty. I won't do the shotgun justice.
-
No worries Bill, there will be squads for "hunter class" shooters, glad you are gonna shoot!
-
C-money, I think we should have a few of us from the Othello Club up there.

A good time was had by all. Even with the fog, we had a good turnout with 40 books sold. I even had time to win a few between scoring & pulling squads. thanks to those who came!
