I would like to hunt the eastside this year for modern deer, I dont want to mess with Blacktail on the wetside this year. I have no desire to hunt in the rain every damn day, my son near gave up all together last year being his first year. I know NOTHING about the eastside at all as in where is public land, and where we can hunt.
any info would be greatly appreciated (or rewarded with bbq sauce :chuckle:)

I would try the Wenatchee National Forest.

The further away from Seattle, the better. Colville National Forest has some nice biggies if you're at the right place, right time.

as i stated i know NOTHING about the eastside, nothing means nothing :dunno:

spokane and north(orient) lots of whitetail
winthrop-- mostly does, you have to work hard. Ive done good in winthrop before
cle elum area--some good bucks
pm me if you want me to get more specific
most people are really tight lipped about their areas, but I want some BBQ sauce :chuckle:

I would give a deer to someone if I could get a great place to hunt for me, my son and GF. Yes a whole deer if they get their tagged filled, you can have the one I shoot, if that is even legal. I am going to the Regs now.
-
yes it is legal as long as the shooter gives a note to the taker. the note needs the tag, date, etc. you should go hunt national forest and state land. don't know if anyone would give 3 deer away and get one back, but I have been wrong before. mike w

My plan is to go hunt State and NF land. I have a couple places to set up camp just thought I would throw that out in case someone does bite. I would even skin it, and quarter it up if they would like. Heck I would also de bone it as well. the only thing is, I do not want a hunt that we just pull up, shoot and it's over, just looking for a specific spot that holds a good number of deer that may not be over crowded. hiking in a ways to get away is what we are looking for.

Sauce Man, Methow Valley is a full of public land, state and federal.Down side is lots of pumpkins, but if willing to get away from the road. How old is your son? Lots of whitetail on valley floor, but it's private.I may be open to a youth hunt, but in the past I have been taken advantage of my offer. So I am A little gun shy.

I appreciate the info i need to start mapping some of these areas, not looking for a trophy for him just looking for an area he can find a shootable deer. last year he put some serious time and miles into BT over here and he never laid eyes on one.
Plat- as long as you dont bring any pepparoni sticks :chuckle: actually we live on hot food, these guys are just scared
-
Sauceman, sorry :sry: , i wasn't trying to hijack your thread. I hope your little one gets his deer. Best of luck to you and him.
-
most threads get hijacked to a point i dont care  as far as little guy, um..uh... my little 15 yr old is 5'10 and 230 :chuckle: half of the decision to go east is to not spend all day hunting in nasty rain.

Main reason I decided to hunt Eastern WA this year as well. Next year I may stay on the wet side.

Cle ellum area is a great area for deer.Bickleton area and Goldendale area are (some) of the best. :twocents: Your location might help a little with advice :twocents:
