Title: Project Samurai Update/Winch
Post by: carpsniperg2 on October 10, 2013, 04:02:27 PM
Well after talking with some guys on here. They got me talked out of using a 3500lb warn on my samurai. So I went shopping :chuckle: I ended up with a killer deal on a rugged ridge 8500lb winch. With rebate and my deal it was right at 245.00. I was going to buy warn but with there small warranty. I started shopping around and found rugged ridge. Great warranty coverage. So I found some time the last couple days to fab up a winch mount and get it all setup. I love to weld and love doing what I can on my own rigs. I got some time into my samurai but not to much money and I love the dang thing :IBCOOL:

So here is a few pic's of the fab and the project :IBCOOL:  I coated the bumped in a spray on bed liner as well. I did not paint a couple small squares because I still have to weld on my d ring shackle mounts when they show up. I will add another pic when I get that done as well.

I have enjoyed building bumpers, rock rails, etc for my Samurai.
I will give you a word of caution, the d-rings rattle! They look cool, but I don't think it's worth the noise. And you probably won't use them on a Zook!
An overhead rack is a good use of welding time, so when you shoot something, you can put your gear up above.

I had a cow elk, two hunters and their gear in the back of mine years ago.

I have thought about a roof rack so that might be in the future my spare is to big to put any place else :chuckle:

Nice wheels  let us know how she does offroad?

The samurai mob's like normal. I tried pretty hard to get it stuck last year and never even got close. I don't think I will have to use the winch much but figured what the heck. Cheap insurance and maybe winch a elk out of a hole. I see all these guys with whole dead elk in the back of the truck and it always makes me jealous mine always come out in lots of chunks and many pieces. Its time to drag one out whole and throw it across the hood :chuckle:
