Title: building new smoker need advice

what are your guys thoughts on concrete hardi board for inside walls of smoker (not  the painted stuff )

Doesn't Hardi Board have the "A" word in it?. Not sure if it does I'd use it. :twocents:

seen that used alot, never heard a complaint. but then again , its always only used down low around the firebox.

Hardi board will not hold heat very well.

What type of smoker are you looking to build Hot (200 deg and above) or Cold (Below 200)?

Just finished my first rack of jerky in my smoker, I'm waiting for a dual probe thermometer (Maverick ET-733) to come but it worked really well, I lined the firebox with hardibacker board and cant complain, Here are a few pics of the one I am using and also one I made for a buddy !!

Yeah I had 5 gallons of Thompsons water seal already so I just used that, I thought I'd stain it later on but the more I use it the more stained it gets so I'll just let it be !!  :tup:
