These are some of my favorite pics to see from members. What did you find when you walked up to your deer this year? Pictures taken "As He Lay" when you found him...
I'll start with mine.
-
As he lay when I walked up on him
-
I thought Oh God, this is going to suck, how am I going to get him boned out. I figured it out, but it took a while.

ShaneTyTrey that might be my favorite "As he lay" pic of all time
Makes me not want to show mine as it is too boring after that. But, what the heck :chuckle:

Early Archery
-
I shot a nice buck in Montana in 2010 that was on a steep, snowy ridge. He dropped dead but took off like a bobsled on the steep slope. He ended up upside down with his rack caught on a log about 2/3 of the way down the drainage. Total elevation drop was over 500 vertical feet according to my gps. Would have been a sweet "as he lay" pic, especially if I could've got the long blood streak and slide trail in the pic with him. I was convinced walking up his rack would be broken but it surprisingly suffered only scratches.
-
Good job men ...those where they lay shots are always sweet ... They have meaning :yeah:
-
Tagging...love this thread every year.

Here's mine, sorry for the blur, cell phone at dusk.

I have to agree that Shane's ATL of the buck piled up in the rocks is one of the coolest I have seen. Longrange, I love the way you did the last one, with the hunter blurred in the background behind.
Keep 'em comin' guys.

My 2013 bull.
-
Here's an "As She Lay" of my second deer this year. I didn't get one of my buck, I was too excited for my first archery kill :chuckle:
-
Thanks fellas, that is on the breaks of the snake also, it took over 3 hours to get him boned out and then another 90 minutes back to camp. This is how he came out, this photo is taking a break at the top, with just the 1600 foot downhill back to camp to go. Praying I will have a cool branch bull photo some time next week.
-
Nice pics guys

Here are my two for this year.......the first is my spring bear.........the second is no biggie other than it is my brother in laws first big game kill and first bow kill all wrapped up in one.
-
Never had this happen before, the arrow worked its self almost all the way out while he ran 100 yards with no heart or lungs. It even broke a rib on the far side but the arrow was only broad head deep when I found him.

My deer had just cartwheeled for about 50 yards down a rocky slope when I walked up to it. This pic is after I moved it about 100 yards to flatter ground and cleaned it up a bit.

Hell holes are over rated. ;) Whackmaster and I use to hunt a hell hole back when you could shoot branched bulls on the east side. We saw the sunrise before getting all the meat out of there more than once. The one thing I do not miss about hunting there. Sure wish we could still bugle bulls like though. That I do miss! :(
Looks mighty tasty

The doe I stuck did that this year when she fell over onto the side the broadhead was sticking out of and did her death spasms.

2013 The hills of the Palouse
-
Here are some shots of mine. First is the view when I first spotted him. [Edit - messed up the order - don't have time to fix now...] The next is as he lay, but with rifle holding up antlers - so close enough I think. Not a drop of blood other than a bit coming out of the mouth. Could not even see an entry wound. Since it was a straight on shot, I felt around on the around near the base of the neck. Found a tiny hole, but no blood. But after opening it, massive damage. Found the remains of the mushroomed bullet lodged in some bone fragment way in the back of the body cavity. Liquefied the lungs - dropped in in his tracks. Best part - all 4 quarters were in perfect condition
-
2013 Muzzle, As he lays.
-
1st is of him up close, 2nd is from where he was shot.
-
Heres my Entiat buck I got Saturday. Hit him in the neck at a slight down hill and angling away. 220 yards with a 7mm mag. Bullet went through the base of the neck. blew up both lungs broke 2 ribs and I recovered it near the spine clear to the back of the body cavity. It lost a ton of blood through its mouth and nose.
-
Dang. Thought I had that rotated. Will see if I can fix it.
-
Hope this works
-
I took this whitetail at 25 yards or so, jumped at our feet and I was ready, one shot from the .358 win. And he was spinning around, hit him right down the rib cage going away from me, broke 8 ribs and exited the front shoulder breaking the front right leg, he flopped and rolled and staggered another 25 yards and I put another through the lungs and he was down.
-
This is what I saw when I walked up to him.
-
He crashed down hill...
-
He fell out of sight...stopped my heart for a minute.
-
