Title: Full Draw Film Tour Video
Post by: kglacken on October 15, 2013, 06:25:16 PM: This is a video I sent to the guys at the Full Draw Film Tour. After attending the Portland show I decided that I wanted to try and take my hobby to the next level and make it something that I worked hard for day in and day out. I spent money on camera gear, put in the time, packed around multiple cameras and gear and on day 6 of my uncle's moose hunt I captured a great kill shot from multiple angles that was the icing on the cake to a 6 day action packed hunt all captured on film. I know after I edit the video, I can create a film that is worthy of the tour. I am hoping this video earns a response and that my hard work pays off. I am so close and all I need is to hear from the guys who run the tour. We have received a lot of support from guys on here and we greatly appreciate it! Enjoy the video! (Be sure to watch it in HD)

Post by: deerslyr on October 15, 2013, 08:21:59 PM: Im not sure you'll draw much interest from them with that clip alone. You'll have to do it in the final cut. Ive found to get in the big leagues you've really gotta wrap it up in the filming and editing. Everythings gotta be on point. BUT, you also have to have the contacts within the industry.
My crew has the equipment and skills to put out films with the best of them. We've captured some truly amazing footage this season (our first) but its a tough gig. We just really really enjoy filming our adventures and bringing it to all of our friends, family and fans.
I feel thats the only way your going to get any where in the industry, and who knows you may just get a lucky break and get on the film tour and pick up a bunch of sponsors! Its all part of the adventure but I wouldnt get to wrapped up in being in the film tour it self. Just have fun and put out awesome films!

Oh trust me, I know exactly what you mean. I have the same goals, and you may even see my next film on the tour. But I wont let it get in the way of me having a blast hunting, filming, and putting out awesome documentary style adventure films! Its just too much fun to get too caught up in trying to "make it"

DO NOT DO IT TO "MAKE IT"!!! Do it because you love it and let the cards fall as they may. I wouldn't send this video clip to Walt. You sound desperate. Rather wait for the submittal to come out early in the year and submit like everyone else.

The cinematography on the tour is simply amazing. Everyone is using sliders, jibs, booms, etc... The production cost in some of these shorts is easily $5000-$10000. You need to be GOOD with Final Cut Pro or Adobe After effect and invest some time in learning the program.

Here are some things that we learned as we were in production for a show to air on Sportsmans channel. EVERY show/episode must have a "live spline" that holds it together. DO NOT explain to the camera what you just did or what you are going to do but rather what you are thinking, where you are going and your thoughts throughout the hunt. You need to do a good job documenting the emotions, country and anything else that adds to the hunt.

Thanks for the advice! I have been trying to get ahold of them for the past two months and have not heard anything from them so far. I already sent it to them and I don't mean to sound desperate, I am just trying to show that I set out with a goal in mind and I accomplished it. I am hoping to break through and the quality of this film will be much better than anything I have ever produced. I am excited to see what happens. I know I can produce a film of high quality for the tour.

I am just trying to hook up with someone for some guidelines on what the film must consist of and specifications to go along with that. I am by no means a professional, but I am a quick learner and I want to give myself as much time as possible to play with the editing program and the film to make sure I can create something worthy of their time. I may not get in, I understand that it is tough to crack into, but if I don't give it a shot I will never know. Even if I don't get in, I wouldn't change a thing about the hunt. I will always have the incredible footage to relive one of the most memorable moments in my life! I love adding the challenge of filming to the hunt and there is no better way to explain to family and friends how a hunt unfolded than to show them on film. I was able to get ahold of Walt and he is going to point me in the right direction. Like I said earlier, I know I may not make the cut but I am sure Jason and Matt both know that it takes more than one try to break in. Seeing videos and articles done by Jason and watching Matt's show are just even more of an inspiration! I will just continue to learn and grow my talents and put everything I have into chasing the dream. Thats all I can do. Thanks for all the tips and pointers guys. I'm excited to see what is to come.

I haven't had a chance to make it to one of the shows yet but hopefully will next year!
