Title: .270 150 LRAB
Post by: hub on October 16, 2013, 11:22:45 PM
Finally got to the range with my .270 Win for a little fun shooting. Started the day out with with a few of my favorite loads including 130 PT,s , 140 AB,s, 150PT,s and a few 130 BT,s. All loads shot great except the 150 PT,s. Turns out I seated the bullets deeper than I normally do. Oh well, I,ll get right next time. My last load for day to try out was the new 150LRAB. Shot 2ea. groups with a case full of H-4831 sc. Groups were a mediocre 2 inchs for both. Last group with 55 grains of IMR-4831 was three shots. When I looked through the scope I thought I missed the whole target with shots 2 and 3. When I went down range to take a closer look I could not believe the tiny three shot group. I think I found me a new favorite bullet

One hell of a group, man! 100 yards? Fan of the 130's in .270 win myself, but don't reloading experience for it

I have a box siting here to play with myself. All my 270's love the 140ab so hoping for some good results.

Any of your .270s long barrel versions ?  I keep thinking possibilities of a .270 with a 24 or 26in tube..........curious about pressures and whether it requires a bit of down loading to keep the pressure in range.

Both my .270,s love the 140 AB. I use a pretty big bullet jump with the 140AB and 150LRAB. The 140 is one fine bullet for sure. For a while I have felt like it just may be the best .270 bullet ever made. Then here comes the 150. Got to reconsider my position.

Good to see that with the LRAB.  Can't wait to get some in 7mm 175gr!  That 150 in a 270 with a 26" barrel will be an awesome long-range light kicking combo.

I,m shootin both the 140AB and the 150 LRAB out of a Sears-53. It has 22 inch barrel and is essentially a Mod-70 winchester. winchester made rifles for sears  back then. Mine was new in 1968. It came with a less expensive stock and the sears-53 stamped on the barrel.

Yes indeed, a 26 inch barrel in .270 and the high BC would be a truely long range winner.

The way it shoots those, I'd buy at least 400 bullets, a good scope with a custom turret, a good rangefinder, and call it good!
