Had a message on the machine from Tri state outfitters the .17 wsm came in yesterday, woohoo now to pick it up and put a scope on it..Dear yotes,Pray for yourselves :chuckle:
-
Targets and observations please
-
I'd love to hear your impressions on the 17 wsm when you get it all set up and get out to shooting it. Interested in that caliber if it gets adopted by the public
-
Have you got any ammo yet? That's the hard park.......
-
I could see this caliber becoming popular for coyote/varmint hunters in states that don't allow you to hunt with a centerfire rifle during, say, archery season. plus it's just flat out sweet
-
I went to pick it up and the feds put a delay on me,2nd time this has happened.I had them put a v2 leupold 3x9 on it..I havent seen any rounds in a store yet I did buy several boxes from a site member here.Cant wait to get going with it,,

rasbo,
I've seen a lot of the 17WSM ammo at the Big R store in Omak, so maybe they have some in Moses Lake. Give them a call if you haven't looked there yet. I've been hoarding and have over a 1,000 rounds waiting....

My local bi mart has been stocking it. They had a case and a half last time I was in there. If you guys get in a pinch and need some let me know and I can check if there is any left.
-
Can't wait to get some updates. Didn't know about this rifle/round, but after some research, I'm sold.
-
But it's a rimfire.

Yote-
Dear God,
Please watch over us and keep us safe from the coyote slayer Rasbo. Let him enjoy his new gun so much that he uses up all his ammo before he sees us. Give us strength to resist the urges of his sweet calls. Amen

.17 HORNET
Why not gain 100 yards, 600 fps and reload your brass. Very cool and fun playing with this little reload.
-
Because some of us burn 500 rounds a day for several days in a row. 3000 rounds of brass to load UHHHHH!

shot the gun yesterday, put fifty rounds through it at 100 yrds,20 grains...best group was 1",there was an 8 mile hr wind..Im shooting off my tailgate,I dont use any of that fancy stuff just a coat and a sweater for a rest...Im thinking 20 grain is a little light in any wind at all,my average group was about 2 to 3"..THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME HAPPY....Today I will run the 25 grains through it...I do like the gun,the one thing I do not like is the clip, very cheap and I do worry it could fall out,Im going to get a hold of savage on that...with the 3x9 leupold I put on it, gotta say great and Im happy, and boy the set up is light..The gun is worth what I paid in my mind,Im gonna have a blast with it....Cant wait to see what the yotes think about it

85 yrds with the 25 grain ammo,I happy with this round and cant wait to see how it is on fur,8x10 paper with wily on it,its 1 1/4" from top hole to bottom hole
-
Thanks, Willy is in trouble
-
they still have a lot of ammo at the big r here in colville. if youre having trouble finding more i could pick up whatever you need and swing by vantage on my next trip west, would be no trouble, just let me know.

I would be concerned with the vertical stringing.

I was at The Big R at 10:30 or so. Did you ask for a map or something and Bill told you Clarks might have it ?
-

The Big R store manager in Omak is a good friend of mine. He is an outdoorsmen deluxe. I really like that store in Omak!
Glad to see positive reports Rasbo!!

Looks like a new stock or glass bedding the action with a free float barrel is in order. A aluminium rod glassed into the forearm and a little trigger work should put this gun in well under MAP.

Unless you have tiny little girly man hands reloading any 17 is a major pain. :twocents:

All the reviews that I have read is that this is a very inaccurate round/rifle. But most guys are saying that the barrels are breaking in and groups are getting smaller after a few hundred rounds. 10 shots clean repeat.
