So... below is the buck I shot this year.
It was a 2-3 year old buck.... granted, it's not huge. lol... I know.
But, beggars can't be choosers. Right?
It was the first legal buck I had a chance at this year. Legal meaning 3 point or better area. I saw a ton of much bigger 2 points, with no eye guards.
But, meat is meat.... so I took him. :)
I believe his antlers are all messed up because he had an injury on his left front ankle.
It looked like he had a .22 shot in his ankle. There was a small hole scarred over, and all swelled up.
Is it true that antler developement may be sacrificed in the spring for nutrients being diverted to be used to heal an injury?
If so... that may explain this very non-typical rack.
Either way, thought I would share pics with the forum. Thought you guys might get a kick out of this one.
And please... Post your pics of what you think might be the wierdest looking legal buck of the year.

I had a hunter kill one almost twin to that one a few days ago. This one has a perfect spike like it was a yearling buck. Pretty crazy, big bodied buck so lots of meat for the hunter :IBCOOL:

Very unique buck right there, a real trophy.
-
Here's a 4x2 blacktail what a masher! :chuckle:
-
It looks like more of an actually injury to the antler itself or a genetic defect. my money is on a antler injury. Pretty sure it wasn't the result of left ankle injury.

Pretty sure he was a genetic retard, those are both sides of his antlers. Hopefully I ended his genes, haven't seen on like that in the area since I shot him, matter off fact he was the last buck I have seen there since.

I hope it is ok to throw an elk in here. This was killed in Idaho in the same spot we killed another with a spike on one side and the other grew about 5 inches down by its eye. It looks like it is broken but that is how it grew.

I know where an albino deer hangs out-- its white as snow...
and super tamed like a little pet.
it walks away slowly if you approach it and its in the thick of the woods--
ran in to it a few times.
Never could hunt such a cuteee...
I think the tribe thinks he is sacred.

Damn twinners..I think you did that Bull a favor by putting him out of his misery. Goofy looking thing for sure.

Shot this guy last year up in the Curlew Area. His antlers are almost like dark chocolate. When I first saw him I thought, oh no a two point then he turned his head. It was great.

Idaho whitetail...
-
I guess the weirdest I've seen was just a shed I found with points in weird places and my nephew's buck from this year a two point blacktail with a ton of white spots. Wish I could post a picture of them.

One I shot a few years ago....Technically it is a 3x3. Taste Great!!
