Title: American Water Spaniel

I've never seen a very motivated AWS in person. I put them in the same category as flat coats and Irish Water Spaniels. You find ONE "maybe" TWO that do the work effectively.

Post by: AspenBud on October 24, 2013, 03:20:08 PM: Just like why most pointing dog owners stick to one of maybe five breeds in this country there is a reason people stick to labs, English cockers, springers, and chessies predominantly.

If size is the issue and if the dog is going to be both a water dog and upland dog I would look for a line of performance labs in the 50lbs range.
