RULES
1. 30 teams max, 10 Members max per team
2. Team Size will be limited to 5 members until 30 teams have 5 members, then 1 or 2 members may be added to all teams until all teams have 7 members, then additional members may be added until all teams have 10 members.
3. Entries accepted until Midnight Feb 28, 2014. Coyotes taken from Nov 1 to Feb 28 will be accepted.
4. Washington Coyotes Only WDFW has specified that no fox, bobcat, or out-of-state coyotes can be entered.
5. Coyotes May Be Taken By Any Legal Means except NO ROADKILL found on the road dead.
6. State Hunting Licenses & Regulations Apply see: hunting at night, weapons restrictions, area restrictions, hunting near roads, etc.
7. Eligible Hunting Area includes any area statewide that's open for coyote hunting.
8. Licensed Guests/Youth may accompany team members and hunt as follows. A guest hunter is acceptable for a one time hunt. If a guest kills an animal while hunting with a team member then it can count toward your team total as long as someone from the team was there. A guest hunter can't go out by themself and shoot coyotes for any team. A guest hunter's coyotes can only count toward your team total for one hunt. If your guest hunts with you more than once, they must become a team member for their coyotes to be entered. Youth (under 18) can accompany team members and contribute to the teams total as often as desired as long as they are with a team member.
9. Adding a Team Member during the contest is allowed, but coyotes shot prior to hunting with the team do not count.
10 Photo of Kill with at least one team member or a card showing team name MUST to be placed with the kill and submitted for points to be awarded. Photos MUST be in as good of taste as possible, with the nastiest side of the coyote NOT shown in the photo. Any photo judged to be of poorer taste than necessary may be disqualified by moderators.
11. This is a "Fun" event. No hand gestures in photos, No money, No big prizes involved, keep it on the up and up.
12. Don't drag frozen coyotes around to different locations and take pictures.
13. Dispose of Carcasses in a discrete manner for nature to take its course, do not leave carcasses where they can be easily seen
14. Honor System Applies
15. Highest Scoring Team, will be based on the point system shown below.
16. Highest Scoring Member, Will be based on the point system shown below.
17. Member Taking Most Coyotes, each coyote taken scores only 1 point regardless of circumstances.
18. Most Coyotes In 12 Hours, Submit one photo, (both ears are acceptable in lieu of a pelt or whole animals).
19. Heaviest Coyote, Submit a clearly visible picture of the scale weight.
20. Best Photo, To be decided by forum-wide poll at the end of the contest.
21. Best Video, To be decided by forum-wide poll at end of contest.
22. Best Sportsmanship, Moderators will choose who exhibits the most sportsmanlike conduct, no kills are necessary.
Point Scoring:
1. West Side Coyote - 3 pts
2. East side Coyote - 1 pt
3. Multipliers: Muzzleloader - points x 1.5, Compound Bow - points x 3, Traditional Bow - points x 5
4. Photo of LIVE coyote .5/per animal - capped at 5 per team

Highest Scoring Member ----SWAG 42pts
Member Taking Most Coyotes ----SWAG 42kills

I went out yesterday to try for Elk and some yotes. Skunked on the elk, but I did find this guy running around. Does this count a pic? He was in a great spot right out in the open and not moving.

Took out a 76 year old buddy. Has hunted all his life and never killed a yote. He's strictly a bird hunter so we had to be in shotgun range. On the third stand, had one come in to 40 yards. He sent the buckshot on its way but we only literally had a big pile of steamy dog poo to show for it. Still a fun hunt!It's always good to remember your elders , because at some point that will be us.

There are several public access parking areas on Stratford Road, North out of Moses lake. The area west of the Hatchery looks good too, but I never hunted for coyotes there...
I just had a brain storm. I'll use my new GPSMAPS I just bought.............. :tup:

Went out today and had a great time. The wind may have been a factor as it caused Lil Gringo to miss a pretty easy shot. I was able to bat clean up and pick that mangy dog up on the run.... Lil Gringo batted clean up for me and finished on off that was missing a leg. The two dogs we are holding are 35# and 37#'s. They looked bigger! The mangy one is the one Lil Gringo missed. I ended up with three...
I also have a pic of a dog SWAG shot. +5 for team dogpile.
Great job! It's so much fun to go with your kids because they get so excited.

They used to be right off of the Stratford road, on road 10. Just a big machine shop out in the middle of nowhere. You can check, but I don't think they are there any more--

i'm sure hoping, one of my big goals this winter is to kill a dog with the pistol my grandfather just passed down to me. it's a colt peacemaker 22 22lr and 22 mag. shot it today at a baseball sized spot on a rock wall about 60 yards and was rite in there a couple times.
That's where the electronic calls really shine. When the Johnny Stewart calls first came out they were horrible. And we still took a good number of dogs with our bows using them. Those dogs would have been easy pickins with a pistol that shoots that good.
Maxi-Mag HP+V are suppose to exceed 1,600 with a 6" barrel! I'd think that would be some explosive dog medicine right there!

went out last night but holy hell seems there are more people in the woods shooting riding and using chain saws now than earlier in the season.... Any west side areas in south kitsap north mason that people might try? we are using Pope land off Bearcreek road right now. a lot of people.

AS I was Dragging the dog out from the third stand I noticed a dog posted up about 300 yards from the truck.. I take some time to get lined up on him, BANG FLOP!!!! :tup: Another one bites the dust...

The forth stand was kind of slow, after about 15 minutes I am about ready to call it, when I notice a really Wiley dog sneaking in try to wind me. This dog just wasn't moving normal... :dunno: It took some time to make it happen but I got a shot on him and he goes down.... When I get up to him he is a TOAD, even though he only has 3 feet... Look's as if he did just fine surviving with 3 feet.

Fifth stand, was in a location that was still pretty Foggy. Took some time, I kept seeing just a shadow of a dog just inside the fog line, but he never would hang out long enough to get a shot off. After almost 1/2hr the fog started burning off. The dog was sitting on the other side of the draw, just sitting there.. :chuckle: :chuckle: BANG FLOP!!! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I had 20 Minutes to close out the last stand of the day, so I didn't spend allot of time focusing on getting in undetected. As I walked in over the ridge of the draw, with the sun an my back, I notice a dog staring at me 120 yards away. I slowly raised my Rifle, BANG FLOP!!!!! :yike: It was definitely time for me to call it a day, 8 dogs in one morning, it just doesn't get any better than that! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Today has actually turned out pretty awesome. I actually went out with my son this afternoon and tried again and he got his first dog ever!!! 12 minutes in the stand and bam!! He was so stoked that he was ready to go again. Which is funny since hardly ever wants to go due to not a lot of action. I think he is pumped now for next time.

I was out for 2 days no luck.
Been foggy here for 3 days, so I haven't been out. Hunting in the fog has been so unproductive for me I don't even bother any more. I'm itching to get out, though. maybe I'll try, fog or no.......

How long can a buck keep its velvet? Wouldn't it of rub off by now (Dec)?The last two deer I shot both had a little velvet, but that is full on velvet I have never seen one like that in December.

Had a deer kill 1/2 mile from my house. Tracks showed about 3 dogs. Killed one the next morning and then a pair the morning after that.

As my buddy walked over to get his dog, I was clearing, for later on that afternoon when we came back to call that stand. After my buddy had gotten across the creek, I looked up at the hill top above him, and there was another dog watching him at about 700yards. So a quick cell phone call later, and I told my buddy to circle around up wind and it should push him my may. The plan worked out flawless for ME! :chuckle: :chuckle: 220 yards BANG FLOP! My buddy said I planned that way so he would have to carry both dogs across the creek... :dunno:

About the time we got back to the truck, the sun finally decided to come out, when it did the wind came with It. :yike: :yike: :yike: It was ridiculous... We managed to get 2 more dogs out of 4 or 5 more stands but the blowing dirt and sand was just miserable....

It does appear his shooting has improved. I can't verify as I haven't been able to hunt with him much this year, but he does appear to be a good student as well. I'm afraid to say that I think he's learned all of my tricks and now I may have to start learning some of his. :salute:

Been really busy the last week or so with the holidays but I managed to get out with a buddy for a couple of days before Christmas.
The first stand I made a risky shot, and hit the dog low in the shoulder which led to a additional half mile tracking job but we finally managed to find him trying to swim the creek.

Christmas Eve was a crummy fog filled day for the first part of the day, didn't clear up to early afternoon. I managed push through 9 stands and pull down some dogs... The dog in the last photo is one of the whitest coyotes I have ever seen. I didn't even know he was there, he was posed up on the south side of the draw where there was still a lot of frost. I will not say it is simple, but the process is not all that complicated.
Get up at 1 o'clock in the morning, and plan to hunt till dark.
Pick the direction that you are going to travel.
Stop fill up the truck and grab a cup of coffee, maybe a McMuffin! :dunno:
Head in the direction of your first stand, hoping there is no wind, or fog.
Start calling, hope something comes to the call.
Repeat that as many times as it takes to kill coyotes. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
I would love to tell you that it happens everytime, but I generally average a dog for every 3 to 4 stands.
Here lately has been far more effective in the dark, then it is during the daylight, expecially with all of the fog we have had been having lately. The more stands you make the more coyote you kill.

I'm thinking its not snow... it's the difference in the players/dedication. I doubt I'll shoot 10 more this year, too busy, spending time with the kids doing other things etc. Guys like Big10 not in it this year will take an easy 50 dogs out of the pool as well. :twocents:
Then there are guys like SWAG who pounce on the opportunity :chuckle: Can we start a pool to put money together to adopt a kid or something? :chuckle: :dunno:

Wow! Great job. We tried today a few stands only seeing one dog. We had about 50yards visibility. I wish this stupid fog would clear off some!!!

Fog was crazy today. One moment couldn't see at all and then would be completely clear the next moment. That yote was on top of us in an instant. Hard couple of days of hunting, we've had great sets yet very few coyotes. I guess it makes the coyotes you get just that much better.Agreed!

I BLAH BLAH BLAH a little more before bed :chuckle: I had this call in my gun cabinet for years and never tried it ...VERY BAD IDEA ! I know we all own a lot of calls when it comes to predator hunting but this little gem is working great ...I seen them at Walmart a couple weeks ago and now I know how it works I will be buying all of them before the week ends ... If you do not have one I sure would getcha one ...it should have been 3 for 3 today but my dead eye was off on one :bdid: :chuckle: plus I called in others with it and some died and some ran off ... I will be out again in the morning ..that was to much fun :tup:

what happened to raul??? poor guy fall of the map?? may he shot all his dogs last year :chuckle::tung: I'm having a bad year. 9 kills, 10 runners, 5 misses. I have more runners this year than my last 2 years combined. Just pictures of blood piles & blood trials for me. I've also been trying to video a lot this year. I realize that ain't easy either. Trying to line up a shot,camera and be on the same page as my son before the coyote runs off.
I'm taking Friday-Monday off, going to give it one last try. :tup:

I have to make this excuse. The weather here has sucked every chance I have had to hunt. When I have been out of town doing my NG stuff or been stuck at work the weather has been great. Compounded by some family emergancies and being sick. I have not posted a single dog this year. :bash: Next year I will not be participating. You and me both. A couple of weeks ago, I went out hunting, trudged 1/4 mile to the stand, only to find out that I forgot to take a magazine of ammo for the gun. By the time I trudged all the way back to the truck through 10"+ of snow, I was so tired and disgusted I got in the truck and went home. In my younger days I would have gone back out. Now I am just old dead weight... :bash: :sry:

I'm going to have to disagree with the tone on here that a guided hunt is foolish or unnecessary. Jerry Malbeck is probably the most knowledgeable person you will run across when it comes to hunting coyotes. IF you can't him here, look him up on the foxpro forums.100% agree. A lot of people think hunting coyotes is as easy as buying a foxpro and a gun. I feel like every time I go out I learn something. Thinking back it would have been nice to pay for Jerry's service. I did get some help from a couple guys on here, but the money would of been well spent considering all of my bone headed failures at the beginning.
It's just like anything else. Yes, you can figure it out over time.
