Got a laugh when I opened the box and saw this, sent an email to Barnes about it

That's actually no BS, how I bought it. Does Barnes reuse fired cases for their VOR-TX?

I think I remember reading where Peter Hathaway Capstick (famous elephant cropping officer and author) would pull soft points from live ammo and put them back in backwards so they performed more like a Full metal jacket for big, heavy, deadly game.

I read an article once about a guy that purposely loaded some ammo with the bullets backwards to see if there was a difference in accuracy.  NO DIFFERENCE!  :dunno:

Not the article I read, but pretty much the same result.  Also saw a high-speed photo of a Spitzer bullet half way to the target.  At that speed, the air molecules had the tip of the bullet reshaped to a round-nosed bullet...

I was practicing with one of my ARs and round that was a mis-fire and totally jacked the b/c up. It was seriously locked up and it took a hammer to get the charging handle to budge. When I got it apart the primer had blown out of the brass..... No flash hole in the brass.
The ammo manufactures do make a mistake once in a while.  :twocents:

Cutting Edge Bullets line of "Raptor ESP " bullets are actualy designed to be loaded in either orientation so they can be loaded as solids and as HP exapanders.

Amazing terminal performance.

https://cuttingedgebullets.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=ESP_C145_RAPTOR
Enhanced System Projectile (ESP) designed to be shot as a hollow point without the RAPTOR tip, a hollow point with the supplied RAPTOR tip installed for long range shooting, or flipped around and shot as a solid for extreme penetration. Excellent lever gun bullets without the tip installed and are designed to magazine feed in any bolt action rifle with the tip installed. The BBW#13 nose profile on both ends of the bullet has proven to provide the deepest penetration of any nose profile to date. When shot with or without the tip terminal performance is second to none for putting game on the ground quickly. BC is .140 shot without the tip and is .330 with the tip installed. This bullet is designed to be shot out of magnum rifles with the tip. If a non-magnum rifle is used, the bullet MUST BE SHOT WITHOUT THE TIP in order to stabilize. A minimum barrel twist rate of 1-10" or faster is also required to stabilize this bullet.

RAPTOR tips are supplied for each bullet. Load development can be done without the tip and point of impact at 100 yards is normally within 1" when the tip is installed.

All the polymer-tipped bullets are is hollow points with a polymer insert.  If you can find "Zombie" bullets at a good price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them--all they are is the regular bullet with a green insert instead of red or dark red.  I can't picture bullet makers making a special bullet for the "Zombie Craze"...  :dunno:

I would be a little upset if I opened a new box of ammo and the brass looked like that. Either the OP is pulling our leg or someone played a trick on him. I doubt this came from the factory.

Not familiar with Hornady SST's  Never used any.  The Hornady V-Max and the Noslers are similar.  The Noslers might be Boat-tails--Can't remember without looking...  :sry:

No problem.  The more you know about reloading, the more you find that you DON'T know!

Hornady Zombie Max bullets are also a lighter grain. They are critical defense rounds with a different color tip. the pistol rounds that is. I know the box of .308 ammo I had shot well. just a lighter bullet.

The bullets I'm familiar with are the .17, .20, .22, and 450 Bushmaster.  (Actually a pistol .45 bullet)  The V-Max types are a light, fast varmint bullet.  I still can't believe they'd make a special bullet for Zombies!  :chuckle:
