Myself and a buddy hunted this spot last week Sat till about noon. Just up the Nisqually Rr from the Delta.
Since that time and up until yesterday morning(10/26 - 11/2)when we hunted it again, someone or a group cut EVERY limb off a beautiful willow tree and the trunk in this spot. This tree has been coming along for about 4 yrs now and starting last year was just big enough to sit behind. Now it's GONE. It is the only tree of use as cover in this spot.
Besides being against the law, it will no longer be of any use to anyone the rest of duck season or in the future thanx to the selfish, self centered jerks that cut it down with an ax or hatchet to stick in the ground around what looks like a boat. This also left a VERY DANGEROUS hazard for man and dog as the angle cut trunk and branches are nothing short of pongee sticks for everyone especially when they're just under the water at a given tide. All that's left of a very bushy willow tree.
They also left about 75 empty shells all around this so-called blind. Mostly cheap Remington Sportsmans Steel(black hulls). The tide didn't allow for me and my partners to clean it up when we were done hunting yesterday but we will get it cleaned up soon.
I'm assuming that these same jerks are the folks that left a decoy with their name and phone number on it. As I have no real proof of this, I do have a message on this person's phone to call me for a hunter to hunter conversation.
Guys, if you have or know other people that waterfowl hunt, fill them in on proper etiquette, rules, laws etc. This gets worse every year.

Too bad about the tree. Depending on how your conversation goes with the decoy owner, I would consider giving the refuge manager this info.

This sickens me. I grew up hunting the delta and river. Its sad to see how folks disrespect the land. I pray its still here for my nephews to enjoy when they are my age (39).

This is one if the many reasons I don't hunt there anymore :bash:

Well it's been 2 1/2 days since I left a phone message and the guy that left the decoy at the scene of the crime hasn't returned my call. With the message I left, he'd have no reason not to return my call but since he hasn't, I can only assume that he and his group are the guilty party. I'd love to post his name and phone number from the decoy on this forum but without positive proof, I'm not going to. If anyone from this forum wants this info, PM me.

No returned phone call from the guys that left the decoy with their name/phone number on it at the scene of the crime and it's been over two weeks now. I did turn this info over to the refuge manager but I doubt he can do anything without proof.
I did however, pick up every bit of trash from this spot yesterday. About 75 empty shotgun shells, a large ball of electrical tape, a qt Pepsi bottle almost full and a smashed aluminum pop can.
If you're the guilty party reading this, do the rest of the waterfowl community a favor and stay home the rest of the season.

How maddening.
Hang in there Sako. There are other good hunters like yourself out there...
Ice.

Not a waterfowl hunter myself but thanks for stepping up and cleaning up after another lazy hunter. Fine example of why there is so much distaste for hunters by the non hunting community.

Seems the older I get, the ornery'r I get and folks that mess up my playground tick me off.
I know there's other good hunters out there cuz I meet them every weekend.

:bash: I have seen more morons on the delta than anywhere I have hunted. My partners and I have been hunting there for 25+ years . Nothing surprises me anymore. Last year some bone head cut down all the cover we call the "widgon hole"...trash and empty hulls everywhere. I've seen people shoot cormorants and leave them lay ( gamies had a field day with them too) Knuckle heads setting up with in 50 yards of us.....then sky busting everything in sight. Last Sunday there were 4 guys set up 300 YDS IN THE REFUGE. Called the game warden stationed there at the refuge. He was more interested in how I got his number than someone breaking the law. HELLO :dunno: His reply " Well what were they wearing? Really????? Needless to say they never showed up.

This goes along with habitat destruction, and I know this gets posted weekly if not monthly but had 4-6 guys set up on the river this morning that must have seen a ton of birds due to the endless shooting going on, went to check on our boat a couple hours after shooting light and you could see a line of shells from them down the river. We are talking dozens of cases as every bird that went by got on average 6 shot at them, we left with a back full of casing that were not ours. :bash:
To make it worse they were all military.
Not to mention the idiots shooting 15 min before legal time, sounded like a war zone. What is wrong with people. :bash:

We are taught to "police brass" as recruits. Its these morons that give us (both military and hunters) a bad reputation not only to the local townspeople but to non hunters as well. I have been dealing with people like this for 15 and half years. Sounds like they watch too much tv too :chuckle:!
