Title: Photoshop ?
Post by: Antlershed on November 03, 2008, 01:36:03 PM
I have PS7 at home and I was wondering how you turn an image black and white while leaving one item in the picture in color. I know how to convert to B&W, just not sure how to keep something color. Thanks.

Select the color (there are a zillion ways to do this), then the inverse selection so that eveyrthing in the photo is selected except the object you want to keep in color.  Then you can simply go into your color range or modes and turn it to black and white.  I can't recall exactly what they called it on PS7.

The newer versions of PS have B&W tools, but it's just as easy doing it the old fashioned way in my opinion.

Alright, thanks. I will have to mess with it when I get home, since I don't have PS on my work comp.

So, I can kind of get the color selected, but then it still turns the entire image b&w even after I do select inverse.  :dunno:
