I am so happy to say I finally found a bull, (with a lot of help from several people) that was worthy of the tag in my pocket. I had waited a long time for a WA moose tag and wanted to make the best of it holding out for a B&C bull or nothing. To say I am happy is such an understatement! I carried my Mathews every day and had 2 good bulls both under 30 yards, but I wasn't convinced either would make minimum. I'm sorry to say I didn't get it done with the bow as I reached for a muzzle loader after locating the bull in a patch of thinned timber. Talk about noisy! There was a cow and 2 other bulls with him not to mention some deer above in the timber. I wasn't going to mess around and loose the opportunity.
My first attempt of posting a story crashed my computer so I'm going to make this short and sweet with a teaser pic. I'm about out of time at work today but I'll be back with more.

I honestly feel bad about not getting some other pic posted but my home computer just can't handle it. I promise some more pics first thing in the am.
To answer the question, I first was hunting in Huckleberry but I killed the bull in 49 degrees.

Now you ready for a hog hunt

OK, as promised I'm back early. A little more hunt story first.
My cousin had dropped me off at first light to glass the area we were in the day before and he went off to check some other spots. About noon I had made my way to the top of the ridge and could look over the back side and into some cuts to the west. JT and I had planned to meet up on top about this time so I started glassing for him and finally found him frantically waving his arms at me at the far edge of the clearing. I knew some thing was up so I took off to see what was up.
I got to the spot and he said he had found a huge bull in the timber. It took 15-20 min before the bull turned and gave me a look at his antlers. I turned to JT and said, "We are going to kill that bull!"
I had packed my Mathews every day but where this bull was I didn't think I could get in close enough so I unstrapped the muzzle loader from my pack. Lets just say the next 10 minutes were very action packed but I ended up killing him with one 80 yard shot.
There were a lot of emotions that took over when I walked up to my bull but the realization of how big he is is still trying to sink in!
There is no way I would have found this bull if not for the help and guidance of several people and appreciate every bit of help and advice given. I hope karma gives each and every one of them their own moose tag next year and if so, I'll be there to help pack!

Great Bull, Congrats!!!! Which unit? Spread?
-
How wide is he?
-
Right at 48 wide.
49 degrees
I know several h-w members know the green score of my bull already but how about some guesses?
-
bow2476, is that a WA moose in your profile pic? Good looking bull.
-
NICE! Wow, congrats to you, bull of a lifetime for sure!
-
What a great bull. Great story.

It is starbailey. pm sent
-
Beautiful bull. Congratulations.
-
Awesome!!!! Congrats glad you connected on him that should be the new state record Muzzy bull. The NW big game raffle guy last year killed what would be the next record I think it netted some where around 157 and some change. Yours looks to be a lot bigger then that I would say green score 184 6/8

Great bull

Great bull! Congrats!

-
Nice Bull!!!
-
Far enough to find a big old bull Boss. (250-300 yards up to the clearing then 1.5 to the truck) Gotta killem where you find um!
-
That's a stud bull for sure. Great job!
-
Wow! Great bull. Well done, well done!

Yeah I see so many moose in those steep 117 hillsides really close to the road. I was on a road a few weeks ago and had a cow & calf run in front of me down the road, they just refused to commit to the steep hillsides.
That bull is beautiful and I'm sure the 49 Degrees N Moose tags will be in even greater demand next year
-
Fantastic animal and cool pics!
How about a quick write up on the hunt to accompany the pics?
-
Awesome bull
-
Awesome bull! Way to do that tag justice. At a quick glance I'd say that he'd net about 170 B&C.
-
Oh my, what a brute! Very cool, congrats
-
Outstanding bull!
I'd guess
11-11 palms
28-28 length
7-7 mass
10-12 points
48 spread for 162 gross
-
great bull nice fronts and tine lenght 174 net i believe fis paddles or palms are a little wider than the other estimate
-
That is an awesome bull! Congrats!
-
This bull is good in about every sense but not great in any one area so he is a little deceiving. This is not an exact breakdown because I don't have the measurements in front of me but it is close. Gross and net are correct, green score, of course.
11x10 as I don't think the one right side point is long enough (if it is add 1" on gross, net wont change)
48 spread
12 4/8 and 11 6/8 width
38+ and 36 5 or 6/8
7 0/8 both mass measurement.
180 2/8 total gross and 175 5/8 net.
-
Very Nice Bryan! Congratulations on a fantastic bull. You stuck to your B&C goal. Good for you. Very well deserved!
-
Looks like I was close on all but those lengths :yike: those are awesome.
-
Great bull congrats on a good one for sure.
-
WOW..now that's how you fill a dream tag. Congrats and I am so very jealous.
-
Thanks for all the kind words. It truly is a dream come true.
-
Dandy bull  Congrats
-
Nice moose!
-
Congrats on the bull! He is a dandy
-
Beautiful
-
174 net wasn't to bad of an estimate again great job and you were right I had a great time with stone mt. safaris and your buddy got a very nice stone ram
-
Real stud of a bull right there!
-
That's a whopper
-
Here's a couple pics of a bull I let walk on my first trip over. I passed on 13 different bulls during two different trips. This probably was the second possibly third best bull seen. I had this bull at 30 yards or less for 20-25 minutes. Hard to pass on with my bow in my hands as he had matching 3 pointed fronts and a neat look with the rounded paddles. Just not big enough! Oh, and 50 yards from the road.
-
