Thought some of you might like to see what deer hunting on Kodiak was like. Found this site with some great pictures. I lived on Kodiak for 6 years and these pictures make me homesick. Go down to the Hunting Galley and scroll through the pictures to see some of the finest deer hunting anywhere. Bag limits have ranged between 3 and 7 deer per year over the last 30 years depending on how kind mother nature was to the herd. The views are like nothing else.

Thats on the must do list. Combined with a fishing trip up there of course.

Didn't they have about a 70% die off last year? Maybe it was Sitka Island. Not sure. Hopefully you can clear this up for me as I'd like to do that hunt soon. Thanks.

Kodiak took a bit of a hit a couple years ago, but from what I hear, is starting to come back. Different parts of the Island got hit worse than others. if conditions are good in the winter, they come back fairly quickly.
Prince William Sound got hit very hard two years ago, but even there, they are coming back. My friends who have been hunting there this year tell me they are seeing more deer this year.

Been to Kodiak Island twice,'03 & '05. One of the best deer hunts we have ever been on.

This is the lodge across the bay from my guide I used to hunt bear and deer. They did pretty good from what I hear. Will go again in the near future.

The big die off was on the south end last year, about 60%. There are still some big bucks that survived, my friend from Whale Pass had a client that took a 121" a week ago :yike:. If i can get ahold of the pics I will post them on here. My biggest ever was 114', in 09 and that was after three mild winters. I can not wait to see the pics of this monster.
