Just curious if anyone has ran across another brand that is comparable to them. Ive done a search and came up empty handed.
-
outdoor edge razor blaze but I wouldnt trade my havalon for anything :twocents:
-
Nothing close, just bought two more and a barracuda.... best knives ever if used properly!!
-
Once you figure out that they are not a powerhouse blade, and more of a finesse blade you will love them. I figured out the importance of it and my heavy power blade will stay in the truck. I love it enjoy.

Ive used a Havalon Piranta a bit. Really liked it. Was just curious if there are any other manufacturers of simiar knives out there.
Bought my son and my son in law Pirantas last year just because they are great friends and hunting partners. Now I'm trying to decide what I want.
An Edge, bolt, torch. Or the Zytel handle. Heck, wouldt even mind one with the elk scrimshaw on it.

I used mine to skin, quarter and bone 2 bears and a deer this year. It's the only knife I carry in my pack anymore.
-
Using it for years, the only knife I will ever use!
-
Was thinking it would be nice if they made something with a gut hook.
-
Ive used this knife for 3 years now and i love it! super sharp but yes its not a powerhouse of a knife!
-
i'd be lost without it. all i planned on using it for was skinning but i havent used any of my other knives in the last two years. they can do it all!!!
-
Greatest knife ever! Love mine. Scary sharp. Can gut, skin and quarter an entire elk with one blade. Just be careful in the joints or you might break a blade. After you get used to using it, you will love it!

Great knife. Only thing you can't do with it is try to pop the hind quarters apart or while cutting around the spine and trying to snap it apart. The blades break. Carry a secondary knife if you plan on any slight prying.
-
Love it! Best knife I have ever owned!
-
Never leave home without it!

Tried it on a couple elk an did not like it...too light weight for me
Does work as a good pocket knife tho
-
I have a couple of them. One of the predator (Thanks Jackelope) and one of the fillet knives.. I love them both.
-
I have 2 and they are awesome if you dont use them for a pry bar, I also have a Outdoor edge razor blade, same concept only stouter..both are great and you cant go wrong with either
-
Have 2 and don't know why you would even need to look for anything else . Amazing knifes.
-
I have faintly heard of them. how do they compare to buck? where do you buy them? mike w

Wifes finger after I had to cut out a HUGE sliver. Havalon blade was sharp and let me cut only what I needed to get it out. Wife was a champ and took it better than I would have. That sucker was deep and nasty. I got that little piece out just ater this photo was taken.
I love them but the only problem I have is that the blases seem to wander off after they get changed. My set up is pretty good so most of my friends use my house to skin and hand thier animals and they all have Havalon knives. I find blades in my yard all the time and I dont know where they all come from.

The differences between a buck and a Havalon is that a buck is a strong iron blade. You can force the blade to work and put presure on the blade.
The Havalon is a delicate blade. It's power is the sharpness of the blade. WHen it gets dull you just replace the blade. You do NOT force the blade. You do NOT put very much pressure on the blade. It is soo darn shape you have to learn to use it. If you break a blade or it gets dull you just replace it. The buck knife if you break the blade you are done.
I would put your location and see if anyone would want to meet up with you and you can check it out. If you live near Puyallup we can meet up and I can let me mess with it.
-
I love mine.
Seriously Google Havalon Piranta and try to find some negative reviews. They are reviewed very highly by a lot of people. For what they are they're great.
-
I just bought a Piranta Trophy Skinner and love it. It's the only knife I carry in the field now. I also carry a Gerber Game Hatchet for the tougher jobs like pelvis and rib splitting. So far I have only cut myself once. :chuckle: :chuckle: Knock on wood

Has anyone tried the filet knife?
