Title: Bright and tight egg cure
Post by: duckmen1 on November 15, 2013, 05:22:27 PM: I got the bright and tight egg cure and put it in a jar with my egg clusters. Each individual egg in the cluster is nice and even texture and the color of the eggs are great. I will leave them in the fridge until time to use on steelhead or possibly late chums. Any body have any luck with this egg cure and how do you like it? I haven't really done much egg fishing because I don't like dealing with the borax mess but I like this stuff a lot.

I'm wanting to do more egg fishing and get away the old corky and yarn routine. I think it's more fun when you do catch fish. I have a lot to learn when it comes to fishing like this thought.

These are the best quality eggs I've ever cured though so can't wait.

Post by: Button Nubbs on November 15, 2013, 06:46:45 PM: I put up a lot of eggs this year, fire cure, boraxo fire, proglo, wizard, pro cure, and probably a couple others. Mixing fire brine with these other cures has yeilded perfect gummy bears every time. I haven't tried the bright and tight but I'm sure it has the same effect.

I used it twice last summer and both times my herring needed a dose of Viagra. They came out of the brine too soft.

Post by: WDFW Hates ME!!! on November 16, 2013, 10:15:19 AM: I put up a ton of eggs, and i catch a lot of fish, mostly bobber fishing. Over the years i have used pro cure, red hot double stuff for fall chinook without fail.

This year i switched to nates. And i catch just as many chinook, but now i catch more coho. Plus the nates is a real easy curing process...

THAT would be sacriledge; and not at all necessary.

Ya most of my fish are fair hooked and I wait till I get a solid pull to set the hook but I think it would be more fun to use eggs. More rewarding and in the process it will teach me a bit about using eggs.

Chum really aren't "egg eaters". More than they won't work, most guys just wouldn't waste the eggs, imo.

Hang a largish cerise marabou jig under a float. Run it down a seam where chum are present = all the biters you could ask for. Add a hunk of prawn if it's slow. Then use those eggs to go catch some steelhead!
