Things change really fast out on the refuge this time of year. The drop tine buck had a nice little bunch of girl friends but during the night, he lost his does to the new guy in town. The first picture is of the new guy after he kicked the drop tine bucks butt. The drop tine buck was limping really bad yesterday but he wasn't limping quite so bad today. This new buck seems to have broken one of his back tines while still in in velvet and it hardened off that way. You can see it hanging down. So for now he is the boss of this group of does but with the recent snow in the mountains and more buck bait moving down into the refuge, it won't be long until the really big bucks follow.

Nice pics, thanks for reminding me that I need to get back down there and do some more hiking and fishing! Last time I was there my dad had drawn an antelope tag for the Steens, we caught some nice Redbands in the Blitzen too.
A place everyone should go at least once!!!!! :twocents:

ALL OUTSTANDING CAMERAGUY!!!!!!!!!!!! Exposures are more challenging than bullets, thats for sure. I hope to be there next year. this year is just too full, but I doubt I will have any tags next year to worry about. LOL Thanks for the incredible pictures. With Pope taking a break, I am glad you stepped up to help fill the gap. VERY NICE WORK!
