Is it ok to practice dry firing my Knight Disk Extreme?  Could it effect reliability?

Just turn the secondary safety in so that the hammer does not hit your nipple.  I assume you meant without a cap also.  By turning the secondary safety in you stop the hammer from running in the tapered cup inside the bolt.

Should not effect your normal shooting at all...
