Kind if frustrating to have a requirement for training, then make the training difficult to obtain.I can see both sides as many people call me when they "NEED" the cert to buy a license but those same people have access to all of my classes and my # at any other time of year so I think it goes both ways. it's frustrating for HE instructors who schedule classes and then have to beat the brush trying to fill those classes then have an overabundance of students when they figure out they only have a few weeks left to get it to buy their licenses.
goes back to priorities and where they lie, does your kid "NEED" to play sports all year long? or can they miss 1/2 a practice for week and maybe 1 game to get their hunter education done?
so I feel your frustration and can relate but then again, can you feel ours (HE instructors)?
good luck on getting it done and like someone already said, start early to get it done and enjoy your summer with your kids knowing it's already done and even apply for all the youth opportunities before the deadlines next year :tup:

So true.. I registered my son and wife early, got it done and out of the way. Yes we all missed work and yes he missed playing sports for a couple days but when we were done, we didn't have to worry about it during the summer. I am now checking the site for the next classes to pop up so I can get my Nephew enrolled. I will also enroll my self even though I do not need it.
Get it done early and then do your thing! :tup:

My Spring classes were 75% no shows....Then about August there were classes that filled out within 30 minutes of being posted...and STILL had 20% no show rates. And in Late September and early October....I had to screen calls from folks who knew someone who had previously taken a class from me and were calling me to see if i was going to teach more.
Classes were posted for Jan(1), Feb(1), Mar(1), Apr(1), May(2), June(2), July(2), Aug(2) and Sept(1). Total capacity of 325 students. I actually TAUGHT only 171 students for the year. Its immensely frustrating to go to the hassle of setting up classes, doing the legwork and having the folks WHO SIGNED UP, NOT SHOW. And NO I'm not going to teach a class a week in Sept and Oct for those who cannot plan ahead, I'm getting ready to go hunting then. ONE time WDFW talked me into teaching a class that ended on Friday before Opener...NEVER again in October. For 35 seats, over 145 folks showed up, lots of "I brought my Dad and Mom and Brothers, sisters and Cousins and 3 friends...can we all get in?" NOPE Sorry. No room at the inn.

I totally understand. And here I am, planning a year ahead, and just trying to find a class in the Snohomish area. I'll wait until they are scheduled, sign my boys up for one of the earliest classes, and be done with it.
I think it would make sense to have a non-refundable deposit for the classes...
The idea is good but not solid.
Maybe have a deposit and if you cancel or you are a no show it is non refundable. If you show and graduate you get the refund, maybe they can put it towards your license! :dunno:
