have hunted mule deer most of the time but tomorrow am hunting whitetail bucks and have some questions about the diff between the two this time of year. do whitetails 1. respond to rattling, 2. do whitetails respond to grunt or other calls. 3. do whitetails see better than mule, 4 . do whitetail have a keener sense of smell. , and 5 . can you sneak whitetails easier than mules. all these questions compare mule deer to whitetail. and 6. anything else I can put in my brain to bag a whitetail. thank you, mike w

Yes to questions 1 and 2. No to the rest. A deer is a deer, they're not that different. The biggest difference is probably the type of habitat they prefer.

In my experience whitetail are a lot more skittish and weary than mule deer. A lot of the time if you bust a mulie they will give you a second chance. Generally a whitetail will not. And as bobcat stated the habitat of a whitetail can vary tremendously. You can definitley not sneak up on a whitey as easy. However if you stick to the fundamentals and hunt the wind it will highten your chances tremendously.
