Title: Neopreme dog vest froze
Post by: WCTaxidermy on December 04, 2013, 08:02:32 PM
It was 3 degrees out duck hunting today and the Avery dog vest froze and was not pliable on my Lab.  I noticed my dog was not walking right and took it off of him.  He had rashes in the armpit of his front legs.

I don't think they were made for extreme cold weather.  When its warmer out it works great.  Poor guy was just miserable today shivering in the blind.  Had to keep him moving in fear of hypothermia setting in.  He just cant stay out of the water even in 3 degree temps.

I have the same vest for my dog. It to was causing a rash under his front legs. I cut the leg holes bigger so the material doesn't rub against his legs and have had no problems since.

Yeah I did the same thing and the vest fits him really well.  The problem I have learned this week is that in extreme cold, it doesn't matter how well the vest fits the dog, once it freezes because its wet, it doesn't conform to their body anymore.
