Title: Tikka 270 WSM scope and scope mounts
Post by: EDT on December 05, 2013, 09:37:19 PM: Picked up a Tikka SS 270 WSM, as you know it comes with scope rings on the rifle. Are these mounts/rings worth keeping or would you suggest switching out with another brand, if so, which brand? on all my other rifles I have Leupold rings/mounts.
I am planning on getting a Leupold CDS scope and custom turrets for the rifle. Im getting very excited about this set up.

What do you think of this?

Post by: carpsniperg2 on December 05, 2013, 11:47:07 PM: I trust the factory rings with any non magnum. I always upgrade the rings on my magnum tikka's. I have started using talley and been pretty happy with them so far.

I have some on a couple of rifles and I really like them. I use a very small drop of Loctite med strength to keep them from coming loose.

Post by: Rick on December 06, 2013, 12:29:22 PM: Nothing wrong with the stock rings on a Tikka. They've held up fine through hundreds of rounds of 180s from my 30-06.

I will say the DNZ mount/rings I recently put on my Remington 700 are really nice.

I like the DNZ better than the Talleys on my Kimber Montana.

Post by: Skillet on December 06, 2013, 12:33:03 PM: I have a T3 Lite Stainless in 270WSM and use the stock bases and rings on my Leupold VX-III. Gave my scope a pretty good bump on the high hunt last year and it held zero fine. They're a little finicky about getting everything lined up and tightened up correctly, but after you get it all settled they are pretty solid on the 270 WSM, IMHO. If I was shooting a higher recoiling round like the 300 or 325WSM, I might be more concerned.

I have a burris ar332 I plan on sticking on there for night hunting, they see in the dark a TON better than a standard scope.

I've tested this up against a ziess that advertises good for low light and there is no comparison - the tube on the AR-332 is just so much bigger it brings in a ton more light.

kinda cool, just opens up a ton of options.

Yah man like what carpsniperg2 said its probably one of the best solid base mounts you can get insuring proper alignment and a trustworthy solid base to set your rings(any) and scope onto. I went EGW base and leupold MKV tactical rings which have been a killer combo so far. Ill post a pic later.
