I have about an average of 9 lbs for all of mine with a 16 pounder as my biggest. I have had several over the years that were not ideal shots and they tore out of the arrow that the fish were 3+ feet long. I had one trapped in a small pool in a backwater slough of the columbia a few years back that was for sure the biggest carp I had ever seen around here. The first shot missed and hit a rock so the knock broke off and I only had the one arrow. I watched it for a while and it swam through the shallows to the bigger water. The water was about a foot deep in the shallows and it stuck way out of the water as it went through. Between my buddy and I we determined the head was about the size of a basketball if not a hair bigger. easily broke 4 ft long. I didnt realize they would hit that size here. Whats the biggest you have come across?

It isn't uncommon for us to get 20 to 25 ponders just about anywhere in Washington that holds carp. It's not as frequent but we see 30 ponders every summer as well.
Do you shoot any of the tournaments with the Washington Bowfishing Association (WBA)?
Great opportunity to see big fish.

love shooting carp in lake sammamish i think some of
them where close to 40lbs
-
No I havent done any tournaments. Just do it to pass the time in the summer when its too hot for me to get after bass or steelhead. Man it sure is a load of fun though. Havent done it the last couple summers. My outdoor hobbies are fast outnumbering the free days I have to do them.

We get some in the mid 20's around here. Not to many toads. I never use to carry a scale but I have started the last few years.

I shot my biggest carp last year in ID at Farewell Bend. It ended up weighing just over 36 lbs. We ended up putting three fish in the boat that weighed over 30 lbs. that weekend. It's a great place to shoot hogs!!!
Locally in the Tri-Cities we'll shoot 28s and 29s all summer long. We saw one fish last year that would have pushed 40.

Man, I always get one upped by that photo. I'll tell you what though, seeing that fish in person made me only swim in my pool for about a year :)

That carp is a GIANT. My biggest was 22 pounds out of Potholes
-
27 lbs out of the Okanogan, gravid female
-
I know some shooters out of the Okanogan area that shoot pigs too. A 27 is a great fish. Shoot, a 22 out of potholes is a monster. After shooting potholes for the last 4 years i believe the average is about 9lbs. Here's a pic of my buddies 31lber out of potholes. I've never seen one that big again up there.
