so im thinkin about opening carry my little 357 until I get my ccl so whenever u enter a car do u have to unload ur handgun ?? any other tips?
-
If you have a cpl it can be loaded in the car if you don't I'm not sure.didn't know washington was open carry state.
-
Unload it.
(2)(a) A person shall not carry or place a loaded pistol in any vehicle unless the person has a license to carry a concealed pistol and: (i) The pistol is on the licensee's person, (ii) the licensee is within the vehicle at all times that the pistol is there, or (iii) the licensee is away from the vehicle and the pistol is locked within the vehicle and concealed from view from outside the vehicle.

does anyone here open carry?

You will have to unload it and keep gun out in open or in a case if open carry. You can not carry it on you even if loaded. They will consider it concealed because they can't see it if you are stopped.

Just to be nitpicky; a "pistol" is not a revolver.

does anyone here open carry?
Here and there, during hunting season or such. Usually when carrying a larger revolver, getting fuel coming or going, maybe coffee at a mini mart. I don't want anyone one to know I'm "Packing". It may be legal to open carry in this state but I guarantee your going to get hassled by law enforcement if you do it enough. Legal or not the majority frown upon it. Like I said, it's legal but they really get worked up over it.

Did you already go in for your cpl? It is so much easier to have one. Also quicker when buying a pistol usually.

yeah I applied for it but they said it was a 2 or 3 week wait

The biggest problem here is if you are carrying openly and some (censored) feels "threatened" by you and gives the police a call then you have to explain and defend yourself for open carrying... Just like if you have a ccl and someone sees it and feels the same then you have to explain.... Be patient and wait for the license just my :twocents:

does anyone here open carry?
yes I do but I have a cpl as well and tend to open carry more when I am off scouting and hunting being a student I couldnt carry on campus so my carrying was sort of limited by circumstances. I usually just pop a pistol in my shoulder rig which is concealed if I have a coat on and not if I dont...also just pop my pistol in my pocket sometimes... :dunno: like I said I have a cpl so can do whatever...

Got to tell you there are better places than this forum to ask that question.
Don't get me wrong I love this place. But if you are going to open carry ask the folks who go it every day.

From time to time I do.

Do occaisionally, and never worry about it. Typically, at least in my neck of the woods, and as long as you are not "strutting " it, as some do, i do not get harrassed by LE..but I am also freinds with each and every one of them. But outside of work, I usually am concealed. Never want to be the first target if a social situation turns ugly. In my line of work running a large gun store, open carry is a definet deterrent, and has helped prevent possible "issues" several times!
