Ok i do not see a thread started yet, I been looking :dunno:
That's ok, I'm probably early. So I'll start it off. I guess the first step to facing a problem is admitting there is a problem, which is that evil fork!!
So here goes. After shattering my ankle and destroying all the tendons and ligaments in 2010, then spending 6 months flat on my back I gained 30 lbs, when I was finally off crutches I then limped for another 2 years, so guess what, I gained another 10, and another 10, and another 10, and then yet another 15 lbs :( I have battled high blood pressure since I was 14 on and off meds, now I'm living on 4-5 pills a day to keep it moderately so-so due to my diet and weight most of all at this point. This weight MUST come off, aside from the fact I cannot imagine that my wife thinks I'm remotely attractive being a pot bellied porker at least 70 lbs over weight and lets not mention that tying my boot laces now requires holding my breath and killing myself to do so :( Its hard to imagine up until 3 years ago I could hop on my treadmill and bust out 5 miles with just a pant, now I pant walking up the driveway, but now my ankle is stronger and Its time to get this off of me.
So in short, I'm in. 2014 BIGGEST LOSER STARTS IN 7 DAYS, WHO ELSE IS IN?
Ill start it off today's weigh in,

WHEN YOU LIST OR UPDATE YOUR WEIGHT, HIGHLIGHT IT IN RED
Fat camp has begun! I hope everyone experiences some sort of success with this contest, and you have already by realizing there is a problem  Even if you dont lose weight I hope you at least feel better, eat healthier, and maybe live longer.
TIPS
Now, I STRONGLY suggest using http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/) it will give you a healthy calorie goal daily that will HELP. the first day it will seem hard listing every calorie, by day 2 it will be very easy and fast I promise!
I strongly suggest learning to break the calories up into 5 meals a day, smaller meals several times a day is a scientifically proven fact to BOOST your metabolism, if you dont know what that means, well in layman's terms it means your body is doing FREE work for you to lose weight
also remember if you start some hardcore exercising then you need to bump your calorie intake up a little or youll have no energy.
and last, the bulk (65-70%) of your calories should be taken in by mid day not later like evening time when your less active.
you should take a few fat pics to show off later!
weight in in the morning when you wake up, remember it usually takes at least 2 weeks to see each difference so over checking will derail you with not feeling accomplished
take some measurements around your body with a sewing tape because remember muscle weighs more then fat so you may be losing fat and gaining muscle if your working out the tape will tell you the truth not the scale.
given that, remember to direct your workouts at burning fat
:yeah:
Now go make your plans and get your game on, i aim to be a serious contender, id like to finally have a summer where i can take my shirt off
now Im headed to dust off INSANITY and restart it. BRING ON THE PAIN!! :bash:
Good luck everyone and happy new years
-
I hear ya, 5 knee surgeries later...I am in, I started last years biggest loser at 285 ish, now I am 293. I really would like to backpack in for early elk, and I am not getting any younger. So count me in.
-
After watching Coach, Rtspring and Blrman run the hills I will be in on this competition. Bring your A game folks I plan on being a contender.
-
Count me in. I'm 255 today, per doc's scale. I've got a surgery coming up sometime after the first of the year, but I've got 55 to lose.
KC, how are we recording this?
-
Well Kc, after 18 years as a Marine sniper and crawling all over hells half acre.
And earning my Gold Jump Wings (30 jumps, mostly combat)
My knees are destroyed. I had to stop running 3 miles a day last year.
I weigh 195 but my ideal weight is 165.
My son is leaving for Marine basic training next fall and he wants me to
wear my dress blues at his graduation. I have a long way to go!
Count me in.
-
Dan I will be looking for direction, or to be again directed by Machias if he wants I just wanted to get it started with a roster , I will start writing it down as folks state it. I never followed along before so I'm a newb to how Hunt-Wa does this. In 2011 I bought INSANITY but it was more then my ankle could handle. I started in 2012 then boned out. So like Chris (white pirate) said I aim to be a contender. without competition I will fail
For me I cant stand it, sure we all have plenty of jokes about it but truthfully trying to squish my fat gut to lean over and tie my boot laces requires holding my breath, pain, and feeling like im going to pass out til i get ONE tied :o then I still have one more to go. I get winded easy, like walking upstairs to the bedroom, and we wont even mention the effects my weight have possibly effected there :dunno: I do know Its time to change this. Tomorrow for me, is the last day for free will porking.
and anyone that knows alot about proper dieting and exercise Id love to read what you have to say. ALL I know is whne I started INSANITY I used a website I was sent to for figuring out my total caloric intake per day, and how to split it up into 5 meals a day but I'm going to have to refresh :o
-
This will be the first year that I am not going to be in. Finished out lay year at 272 I am at 280 but still on the exercise regiment. Which i started back up after hunting season. I wanted to tag this so I could follow along. Good luck everyone.

-

I'm in again at 250, 5 lbs less than I started last year. Did good last year until I got out on my boat commercial fishing n Alaska. Got down to 228 before I headed north in the spring. I work hard, but not a lot of cardio and eventually gained most of what I lost back. Then got home to mama's cooking and well.................????
-
I'm in, sorry but someone else will have to run it this year.
-
I went from 195 lbs in August to 170 lbs last week. I hurt my neck and couldn't work out but waited until after hunting season to get surgery on Dec 6th. Now I can't eat much solid foods because of the tissue inflammation on the inside. I'm going to get at least 15 lbs back in the next month or so but it's a chore.
-
I'm in --- 210lbs , should be 175-190lbs. Had the flu last week which helped me dump about 12lbs, but 'tis the season!!!
-
I'm in, finished last year 30 lbs down from heaviest ever & had/have an injury being treated by pain management specialist (sucks to get old) & gained 5 back but need to lose quite a bit to be where I'd like to be

On Aug 3 last year I got serious and dropped from 270 down to 232 by deer season. I felt so much better during hunting season!
I have put on a few pounds in December, mostly over the holidays. Just weighed myself at 244 and I want to get down to 220 or less, as soon as the holiday goodies run out I am back to losing more pounds, so add my name to the list at 244.

Please count me in. After bike commuting almost 1800 miles, climbing Mt. Adams, backpacking in the Blues, I gained 10 pounds... :yike:
Just got off my wife's digital weight watcher scale, I'm at 275.2. Goal for this year is 225, long term goal is 210. Like others, I have also struggled to get past the mystical 250 plateau.
Put me down at 275.2 for starters!
Cheers!

Good luck Chris!!!! Bring on Mt Clifty.. Get er done !!!

I followed along and shared in everyone's success last year. It's time to stop watching and join in but before I do I want everyone to know the reasons I got fat;
1. I am virtually powerless in the presence of those two sadistic hippie *censored*s, Ben and Jerry.
2. Buying clothes off the rack is not nearly as satisfying as having to get everything "made special."
3. In every single food equation, fat equals flavor. Do the math.
4. I'm tackling my New Year's resolutions one at a time and alphabetically. Therefore, I can't "Lose weight" until I "Learn to play the glockenspiel."
5. The extra flesh folds in my arms provide a handy hiding place for my extensive collection of vintage '70s porn.
6. "No reservation? No problem, Mr. Brando, your table's right this way."
7. Two slices of melba toast or a sheet cake: Which would you rather have for breakfast?
8. I'm secretly conducting an experiment to find out whether centerfold models are really telling the truth when they say that what they find sexiest in a man is "a sense of humor."
9. Workout sweat leaves me with that "not-so-fresh feeling."
10. I belong to a small group of individuals who believe Jack LaLanne may, in fact, be the anti-Christ.
Put down at 360, Ouch !

Too Funny!
Please count me in. Current weight 238 lbs :o My goal weight is 205. Not really sure what my appropriate weight should be for my size/body type but I haven't seen 205 since I was in my 20's. Plan is to hike the Chirico trail to Poo Poo Point carrying my hunting pack. 1.8miles one direction - 1700 ft climb in elevation. Good time to get ready for spring bear.
Is there an end date to this competition?
-
Did the deadline already pass for this?
nope starts today
-
I will start the prizes off. not sure what place it will be yet, but were in for several gallons of Smoke King Sauce
and I'll host a family a BBQ for all participants when its over to hand out prizes

TIPS
Now, I STRONGLY suggest using http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/)
+1 on myfitnesspal. They also have an iPhone app that links to the web database and the app will also use your phone's UPC reader to load in labeled foods. I also use endomondo to use the GPS on my phone to track my fitness. It links into myfitnesspal so I don't have to log it in.
Good luck everyone and I wish you all great success toward your fitness goals this year!
Cheers!
-

-
Put the cookie down...we can do this guys! Good luck and happy new years to all!
-
in @ 235 - I'll do this.
Would like to be 200 this year, that'll get me bouncing around in the woods like I used too.
Based on the Robinson formula (1983), your ideal weight is 164.9 lbs
Based on the Miller formula (1983), your ideal weight is 161.2 lbs
Based on the Devine formula (1974), your ideal weight is 171.1 lbs
Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), your ideal weight is 177.2 lbs
Based on the healthy BMI recommendation, your recommended weight is 136.4 lbs - 184.3 lbs
I don't know what that means, I punched in some figures in the Ideal weight calculator and this came out. I couldn't imagine being under 180.
-
I am in at 256
-
OH, are we suppose to put excuses in here of why we're fat?
I had a baby :chuckle:
-
I had a fork :chuckle:
-
In and I plan on sticking to it this year. I will get my weight tomorrow morning and report it then. I imagine it will not be good.
Ok starting weight is 282. Best of luck to all. Lets stick with and make 2014 ours.
-
I guess I'll try again this year. Starting weight 200. I was not too successful last year, but I'm hiking every week now & I lost my fork. So maybe that will help.
-
well i feel like a mack truck hit me and i went very easy at it making sure i didnt send my BP thru the roof, and still i hurt in places i didnt know i had places. Sean T brings the pain no doubt. having some yogurt and granola crap for breakfast then Day 1 disk
-
finally talked myself into day 1 disk after 3 hours or procrastinating, it was more painful then i rememebered. that part was fine, the hardest part is i see how absolutely out of shape i am because i cant control my breathing at all gasping for air the whole way thru  man i got a long ways to go
-
But you're gettin there and doing it! you know what it's like to be where you wanna be and know how good it's going to feel. won't take that for granted anymore lol
-
i could do so much more and do it better by far if i could just BREATH :o
-
Takes time to get your lungs back haha
-
I'd like to get in. 222 this morning. Like to be 200 by June and 185-190 by September, and then stay there!
-
I just ran across this tonight, am I to late to jump on board? I started out 2013 at 403 lbs ( :yike: ) and decided I needed to get on it. Right before Christmas I was at 300 lbs, but the holidays put couple lbs on, This morning I was 306 lbs. So I'll start there. Here's to some new hunting clothes by next season in a normal size :chuckle: We got this guys.

Webspinner 100 pounds in one year is awesome. Keep with it and you will reach your goal. What did you find worked best for you?
-
Ive been using Omnitrition products and ultra clean eating. it's supplements and a diet plan. Can't believe I let myself go so bad.... started having serious fluid retention issues and blood pressure and cholesterol, Dr wanted me to get my guts cut, but I hate needles :chuckle: buddys wife was doing it and had lost 50 lbs so I figured what the heck, best thing I ever did, I got alot of hills to climb and peek over still and looking to be down around 200-220 by end of 2014. Been wanting to do a high hunt and don't want to pack any extra. Best part was the Doc pulled me off all my meds two weeks ago...
-
Awesome web!! Hard work pays off. Congrats

Thanks, 2014 here we come!

I drank pop when I lost my weight last year. I was drinking Coke Zero but only 1-2 16oz cans. That is how I get my caffeine. I can't stand coffee unless you load it up with cream and sugar. So what else do you guys get your caffeine from?
-
So what else do you guys get your caffeine from?
Crysta light strawberry energy.

I lost somewhere in the area of 5-12 lbs week. struggled with the first 20, then started the diet and just started feeling better, more energy etc.. finally have a metabolism again.

STILL NEED A WEIGHT FOR JREBEL AND MACHIAS
-
I'm in at210.I would like to be at 190.
-
Im in. I have always been a big guy. I lost some weight a couple years ago and gained it all back plus some. I have hyoertension, sleep apnea and am borderline diabetic. I love to be in the woods and this extra weight does not make it as fun as it used to be. I have tried every diet out there that promises quick success and every time I quit or get bored. This time I am eating whole foods and working out regularly. I have cut out processed foods and sugars. Good luck everyone lets do this!!!!!

Well I'm off to a start, sick as a dog for 3-4 days, ought to be good for 10 lbs or so :chuckle:
still can't breathe lungs are so full of gunk.
-
BigLuke1981 go get a APAP machine for that Apnea, I got mine in April last year, found out thru the sleep study that I was stopping breathing on average 70 times hour, and blood ox was clear down in the 60 % Now I have less than 3 hr and blood ox stays above 95% huge difference in my rest and health. get one and don't look back, even had a tech show me how to rig up my unit to take it hunting using my 12v :)

I actually got put on a machine a few months back and it is amazing. Like you I was holding my breath for up to 4 min and oxygen was also in the 60% range (scary stuff). I took mine with me to camp this year and ran off a battery. It is amazing how better you feel, I forgot what a good night sleep felt like. If anyone on here is questioning whether or not to get get a sleep study done, don't hesitate it is nota big deal and can change your life.
-
I will join you all. I just weighted in at 279... Yikes!!!
-
Amen to that Bigluke1981, glad you already did that, huge difference. I did'nt take mine to elk camp this year but won't not take it again.

If it's not to late, I'd like to join in @ 190.
Target weight of 175.
Since I quit racing bikes four years ago(the kind you pedal, not throttle), I've abandoned my year-round efforts to keep the weight down. Something like this might be just the ticket to get in the fight again.

10 days in I'm down 6 lbs to 244. The water weight is gone, now the work begins.
-
Currently 198!

Brandon
-
Working it. Down to 242.
-
I cut all soda's again, even though last time I didn't feel any different I did it anyways. I was on diet pepsi.
actually I take that back I was getting heart burn while on soda.
Also quit stopping at gas stations to pick up a snack before work, those were adding up I'm sure :chuckle:
Another thing I'm doing is cutting back on breads and other carbs, sticking to proteins.
I've never dieted before, so this is all pretty new to me. I got a ton of work to do this summer so that'll drop some weight too.
-
Well, I went from 170 to 181. That's a good weight for me at 5'10" so now see if I can keep it there.
-
Funny how some people battle weight loss their whole life... and others cant gain weight even if they tried
:dunno:
-
245.......Lost 10 lbs already. I thought with the knee replacement 2 weeks ago, I'd gain some, but I was following some of the advice on the first page( smaller portions more often, water instead of pop, only 3 beers in last 2 weeks.) I am on a roll. :IBCOOL:

-
241 Eating less and walking more is working. 4 more pounds.
-
Ok guys, I just finished the first month of the challenge and figured I would post first month results. I started this challenge just as a little motivation and knew there is no way for me to win but maybe I could help others to succeed in a life changing event. Here are my first months results: Lost 5lbs and ran 38.50 miles for the month as well as trained hard in the gym 5 days a week. I hadn't ran/worked out in 5 months so I set a modest goal of 2 miles every 2-3 days and then I just got addicted to working out again and blew my first month running goal out of the water.
I would also like to challenge all in the competition to attend and run/walk the Fallen Heroes 5k that BLRman is putting together. Good luck to all
-
Greetings fellow weight loss enthusiast's:
I've decided to check in at the beginning of every month rather that document every lost pound. Id rather check the scale a few times a month vs. daily . I like surprises and limit the chances of disappointment. :chuckle:
My wife and I actually started our nutrition and exercise program on the 6th of January because we've never had a New Years resolution last more than about 72 hours. Here are the January results
Today I weighed in at 239... Down 15 pounds since we started.
-
Elkhunter00 260 Only down 4 pounds, but spent a week in Vegas
-
248.4
Sent from your honeyhole!!
-
241, but hard to count that as 14 lb loss. Had a surgery. I can't do much yet, but will get back into this in March.
-
Had a little setback. Was evidently overdoing the raquetball part of my workout and ended up with a tender knee. Couple of crashes into the wall didn't help. Took a couple weeks off to rest it and just weighed in at 243. Easing back into my workout routine. Doing more cardio on the elyptical trainer and less raquetball. No more of those 9 or 10 game marathon days.
-
SWtill 241...... Scale must be broke.. :dunno:
-
Back to 204...darn beer!
-
Today's weigh in 231 down another 8 pounds
Good Luck

Brandon

238.5 Still drinking the same amount of beer??? Lost another 2.5 lbs.
-
242 Going backwards..... :bash: I'll have to get out and get some mushrooms, that will get me moving and hopefully losing some weight. :dunno:
-
I got down to 180 which was my goal and now I'm lifting heavy and I've gained 6 lbs back but down to about 7-8% body fat.
Keep working hard everybody. Some times it's easier to work out more than to eat less
-
259lbs, been jogging 3 milesx4 each week, hitting the weights and keeping my diet balanced. started at 271
-
down 16 so getting on track
-
Sorry for not updating. Started my diet 32 days ago. I've been 100% Nurtisystem so far. Starting weight was 330, current weight is 307. Down 23 pounds. GOING to make it to 199 this year!!
-
Holy Schmokes Fred. That will be awesome
-
Golldannnnnnnnnnngggg Fred! (As RancidCrabtree might say...) What do you end up spending on Nutrisystem per meal, or per day, etc? I've been considering that kind of fixed program. Takes the guesswork out of things.

It cost me $277 for 28 days of food or $9.89 a day. I still have to buy fruits, veggies, bread and some cheese. I enjoy the food and it so easy to follow. After the first 10 days I stopped being hungry all the time, I've already lost probably 3 inches off my waist.
-
started 289.9, this morning 268.2 :IBCOOL:
-

Still hitting it hard just not posting very often. I have plateaued at 184. I completed the Murph challenge today in honor of all that have served our country and payed the ultimate sacrifice . For those that are not familiar with it here it is: 1 mile run,100 pull-ups,200 push-ups,300 air squats and finish with another 1 mile run. You must have a 20lb pack or body Armor on for the whole workout.
-
with 10 days left, im still holding at 52 lbs lost after 2 months of being off the diet n just eating clean with the occasional smoked junk :D. so, lets add them up folks where are you?
-
down 10.
-
I am getting in late but wanted to post up my results. I tried it last year but did not follow thru so I held off posting anything this year.
So I joined the ideal protein diet this year on 6.6.14. Weighed in at 307.4.
Today 7.25 7 weeks later I am at 263. For a loss of 44 lbs and 19 inches of body mass gone.
For anyone wondering about this diet. I cant say enough good things about it. I don't need to enter the challenge, just wanting to put it out there this diet works awesome.
-
OK, it is 8/1. I am down 16 lbs. 234.
I am still going at this for another couple of months, so hopefully others will continue to post weigh ins periodically.
-
I was 210 last year. Now I'm 186. Great job everyone. I don't want in the contest just to brag about dropping weight.
-
Friday weigh in . 257. whoo hoo. 2 months down an even 50. No gonna stop until 199. Ideal protein deit really works.
-
final 264, I am good with it though, not much lost, but nothing gained
-
Hit the 20lb mark. 230.
-
Fresh update for those with new years resolution. I have doing the ideal protein diet. I am down 102 lbs in 6 month's. If I can do it so can you. I have 5 lbs till goal weight. Its a lot easier for me to lose when you have to weigh in each week.

I wasn't in on this but my resluts for the year since 1-6-14 are a starting weight of 284.6 and currently at 246.8. No major diet changes except cutting out the huge bowl of cereal at 2am and limiting the bread I have with dinner.
-
Hey fellow dieters :). Been awhile since I was on but wanted to post my results. Started at 306 lbs and size 40 and as of today I'm at 245 and size 36. Made my goal of 250 and 36's by elk camp and have been holding steady. Anther 45 lbs next year will put me at goal That's 168lbs since July 23rd 2013. Happy new year everyone and hope your holidays were merry

Old thread.
It has taken me a long time to push through the next plateau, but I am down 61 lbs since 2010 and should hit my goal weight of 80 lbs sometime this summer or fall. I know that I am not the only one that fights weight, but I am the lightest I have been in 15 years.
