Title: Satus Wildlife Area
Post by: Elkstuffer on December 26, 2013, 07:57:25 PM
Does anyone know if there is any open water at the Satus area? I'd like to take my son down there while on Christmas break but didn't want to drag the boat all the way down there if I couldn't use it.
Thanks for any help.

There is a little bit of open water, but nothing you could get a boat into. Not many ducks either. If you have a little pontoon or something similar it might come in handy

You can hike to the river, it's open. But there are not a lot of "huntable" ducks in the area. You'd do better doing a goose set up on the river or in a corn field if you can get permission on a field the geese are using. A better choice would be to bring the orange vests and chase quail and pheasants.
