We have wide, now its time for Tall. I guess this one is a bit harder than wide, but I am sure if something is Uniquely tall.....
-
All I have for now. I am going to have to think on this one a bit.

So, do you think the esteemed ancestor that drew this got razzed by his buddies for exaggerating his buck?
:chuckle:
-
My dads blacktail from a few years back.
-
That counts as tall for sure.
-
Not a great pic but he scored 117
-
Where abouts did he get that one? Archery I assume.
-
Where else but c-post

Same buck. I agree with Casey, we needed a few more whiteys.
-
We'll have to call him "Tall" because he was only 28" wide, scored 180+.

Sorry for the photo quality, this guy was over a half mile away and heat waves really ruined the photographs but he was just too big not to try. He would have qualified for either the "Tall" or "Wide" thread, what a toad.

As Madonna would say, " Strike a pose ". beautimus animals.
-
All my best bucks have been tall. I am ashamed to say it, but I have never killed a mule deer with a spread larger than 22"... Not sure what my deal is... :dunno:
-
Probably the genetics in the general area (s) you hunt. I'd be happy with all those.
-
those are all great path.... I dont know why I like the tall ones best but I do
-
Me too Run. Throw a little mass in there then I am a real sucker. This is one of my all time favorite bucks.

I'd like to blame it on regional genetics, but the first buck is from central Montana, the second, third and fourth bucks are all 30-50 miles from each other. The last buck was a marsh buck that I never hunted. Saw him for about 3 days 2 winters ago and then he disappeared.
-
Well if I ever have to be jinxed with something, I would want it to be to have to shoot bucks like buck #36
-
Never did see this guy again :'(

Tall buck from this years Idaho hunt.

That looks a lot like the buck that Mike Eastman shot that was on the cover of the Eastman's DVD Hunting the Mule Deer Rut.

-
Dang thats a STUD!!!!!

Only saw a glimpse of this guy last year during the season and he has not come back this year. :cryriver:

Some great bucks! I like the tall ones more than the wide ones.
The tallest buck I ever saw or heard of I saw on a late September backpack trip 25 years ago in Canadian back country. A group of us watched the buck with binos for about ten minutes within 100 yards but none of us had a camera. It was a mule deer so tall that it bugged out my eyes, and then it turned to face me. It was so narrow in width that it looked really odd when facing me. It was plenty wide for an average mule deer buck but with antlers so tall it made that width look skinny. It had another extreme feature as well: the widest spread front to back of any deer antlers I've seen or seen pictured. I wish I could have measured the distance from the tip of the front point to the tip of the back one on either side. When the buck was sideways it made me go, "WOW!" When it would turn toward me my perception changed to "WEIRD!" It was sort of ugly and misshapen looking because it was so tall and narrow.
I'm not sure what the narrow width would do to the net score but otherwise with the deep forks and long tines it was an easy Boone & Crockett gross. I had a deer tag in my pocket and season was open but I hadn't carried a rifle in case it might offend a couple of city folks I didn't know well. :(

On my trail cam Monday.

Great addition. I still love the buck inpost #39. What a specimen.
-
He is still one of my all time favorites.
-
On one of my very first hunts when I was young, we saw a buck very similar to that one just outside Sheridan WY. He was leaving the canyon at first light and skylined himself. He was heavy, super tall, and his back forks nearly touched at the tips. I'll never forget it.
