We got these this morning..
-
Looks fun! Were most of them passing shots? I love shooting divers. Good looking ringnecks!
-
I was going to say how I loved hunting bluebills but they are ring necks. Looks like a nice shoot.
-
I had a bunch of them flying over the decoys this weekend. It was even better watching them fly by. :sry: Congrats on the hunt.
-
One was a blue bill ..
-
One of my favorites. Great eating too. Never figured out why they're called ringnecks. Neck has no ring; only ring is on the bill.

Neck has a faint reddish/rusty ring. Only visible when the neck is extended (and sometimes only in the right light) I agree though... Ringbill would be a better name!

I'm guessing your buddy is the guy who blows away on his Mallard call nonstop while on a diver hunt, then shoots 8 feet behind a Canvasback that goes screaming by at 70mph at which point he proclaims "divers not real ducks". Yeah, I know the type.
Nice shooting btw. Ringers can really move.

He's one of those dabbler duck snobs..

Personally I like meat in the freezer, and when you can only get out so much, well you harvest what you can! If I had the private land and time to limit on greenheads evertime I went out, it may be different. After all we are WATERFOWL hunting not mallard shooting. LOL

Great job on those divers

Nice brace of birds.
If I had my choice I would take the puddle ducks, but I am very happy with divers. The biggest problem I have with divers is chasing down the crippled ones (steel shot and divers = chasing birds). My poor dog has to work four times as hard on divers as he does on puddle ducks. Not that puddle ducks don't dive or sleek off with their heads down but a diver can put a lot of distance between it and then dog when it dives.
